Barrel.

There are so many barrels out there. You wanna start getting your arms around them all. Test them, try them out etc, etc. You wanna find the one right for you.

Re: First upgrade.

All good responses. Our opinion is regardless of what you upgrade, do it one step at a time. That way you can measure the preformance gain from upgrade to upgrade. Many people, with no prior experience, will purchase an A5 and swap out all the parts before ever shooting it. You has no baseline feel for how the marker performs. Just out 2 sense... take it one step at a time, make the changes that will grossly affect performance, once that is done... tweak it here and there to make it your own.

Most powertube inserts do precious little, if anything at all. Unless you want to remove the FVA for an RVA-only system, I wouldn't waste money on one until you either break the stock powertube, or have nothing else you want to upgrade.

I'm still not convinced that replacing the stock internals does anything to make the A-5 shoot better. All official testing I've seen done seems to show that aftermarket internals can actually reduce performance. I would only consider replacing the stock power tube if I bought an RVA (to get rid of the forward velocity screw and simplify dissassembly).

a better bolt will be kinder to the balls, hence less breakage...

Except that as demonstrated here, most bolts do little or nothing better than the stock bolt.
