im looking to build a bullet proof/reliable A5...check inside

im looking at some mods to make my A5 bullet proof while still being reliable...please give any input on the setup

my setup as of today:

*2nd gen A5 (semi auto)
*polished internals
*Flatline barrel
*3000 PSI HPA

im thinking about ordering the following:

*JCS Red Hot A-5 Power Tube
*Tippmann X7 cyclone feed assembley
*Trinity drive spring kit
*JCS Jet click cyclone feed mod

what does everyone think?
any changes you would make?

im not looking for e-grip, double trigger, RT or anything like that..im just looking to build a gun that will be able to take some long days in the woods without me having to worry about somthing failing(mainly the cyclone feed)..i also want my A5 to be efficent with the use of air(power tube and drive springs)

thanks for any input

JCS Red Hot A-5 Power Tube = is more reliable than stock
JCS Jet click cyclone feed mod = will last longer than stock
not much luck with the spring kits.
the others are not really needed with the stock trigger.
A palmers reg will also help with the conservation of air

Re: im looking to build a bullet proof/reliable A5...check inside

with your last sentence in mind, you don't need the powertube. there has been a "scientific" study done and there is a negligible performance difference in bolts.

other than that, looks like you're on the road to meeting your goal of a bombproof marker. i have the trinity drive spring kit. haven't played with it yet, so i can't speak on it yet. i will also be upgrading my cyclone with the techt vortex and the lightning rod.

i happen to disagree with jhall9701 in that the palmers reg will help conserve air, but it will produce negligible results since you're already running hpa. once you have hpa, it seems to be that having the palmers is for the tinkerer. for instance, i will be picking one up eventually but for the purpose of lowering the input pressure of the marker to around 600psi.

Re: im looking to build a bullet proof/reliable A5...check inside

just to clarify two answers that contradict one another on the powertube...

no, you don't need it. it will not improve preformance or accuracy one bit.

what it will do, is prevent the possibility of your powertube cracking. the stock plastic powertube shell, while its not common, has cracked and powertubes in general can crack from time to time on a number of markers.
switching to a metal material will prevent this from happening. but no other benefits.

millslane..thanks..im going to get the power tube just for the fact thats it will outlast the stock A5 powertube.

i decided to go with drive springs over a RVA because i plan on using an ops gear mp5 sliding stock.

and im ditching the lightening rod..im gonna be using the Tippmann X7 cyclone feed assembly.

I like the JCS stocks. I think they are well made and you can get them with the RVA installed.

Other than that, there isn't much else to add. Maybe a flatline shroud from the UMS, but that's it.

Actually, something just came to mind.

Some people have taken truck bed liner and coated the outside of their A-5 with it.

Zulu,

I may be wrong but if you lower your psi to your marker to 600PSI will that not mean you are using less air.

Unless Someone has done it. The X7 cyclone isn't supposed to fit the A5. Now I know it can be done. Just a matter of time before someone does it.

yessir. it would indeed lower air usage, thus making the marker more air efficient. i qualified my statement regarding the use of a stab by suggesting that it was for the "tinkerer" because then we get into the addition of an RVA and a possible FVA mod. the more "stuff" you do to anything in general, the greater the opportunity for a device/instrument/machine to fail. he said "bullet proof" so i was trying to keep it simple. now if he would have stated that he didn't mind tinkering, i wouldn't have said a thing. so, in retrospect, i guess i should've made my comment an addendum to yours rather than a point of contention. in the words of that great ghetto poet, "My bad dawg!"
