| Re: Help!!! The best way to do it is to remove the ASA from the grip frame and use two crescent wrenches to twist the elbow out. Apply heat from a blow drier if it doesn't work. It usually takes a good deal of force to unscrew the factory elbow the first time you do it. You won't be able to use the factory elbow/steel-braided hose for anything else, so you might want to consider buying new universal parts before you continue. EDIT: Wow, VVulfe, you're fast.

| Re: Help!!! I'd have to say that this isn't entirely true. I bought a Palmer's stabalizer and although it did take some effort I was able to remove the elbow from my ASA and attach it to my Palmer's. It was covered in lock tite and did require some cleanup and I can't promise that it will work for everyone. Just be careful not to damage anything and if you do tear up the threading then don't try to reuse the parts. Safety first. -AK |

Um.... I'm a newb for all this, about 2 weeks. what is an ASA?? Anyways, I removed the tank adapter from the grip. I also removed the gas line from the tombstone adapter. So now, the gas line adapter, gas line elbow and tank adapter are in one piece. i did use two super wrenches (one that lock), i lock one wrenches at tank adapter and one at gas line elbow. i use all my force till my hand hurts, they still wont come off...... i dun understand y..... |

You're right. I should have caught myself and defined the term before I started throwing it around. Sorry about that. The Air Source Adapter (ASA) is what you call a "tank adapter." It's basically the part of a marker's air system that the tank screws into. Tippmann chemically bonds the elbow to the ASA at the factory to prevent air leakage when it gets to the customer. The chemical is weakened when you apply heat and force. Try using a larger pair of wrenches (the larger the wrench the more force is applied) and have a friend hold a hair drier to the threads to heat them up. Twist it off while it's still hot. If you ever need to put it back together, use Teflon tape around the threads so it comes apart easier in the future. To AzureKnight's point, technically you can use the factory hose and elbow, but they will not work separately from each other. When people add regulators, they usually need shorter hoses that will not work with the stock Tippmann elbow. Go to OrderPaintball.com for good prices on hoses and fittings. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Also, and I can't believe I'm the first one to say this, but always remember the following phrase: "Washer first, then o-ring. The tombstone holds them in place." If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will soon enough. -Mavro

The ASA is the Air Source Adapter, what you called the tank adapter that the air tank screws into. The elbow that is attached to the ASA has lock-tite on it. It is a cement like sealant that is usually not meant to be removed. I was able to remove mine but I wanted to give it a go as I didn't have the parts and didn't want to wait. It was not easy. Some lock-tite loosens up with heat. That is why it was recommended that you use a hair dryer on it. Just to make sure you are removing the correct things, what type of Palmer's stabalizer did you buy (male or female)? And how did you plan on mounting it, there are several ways. | Re: Help!!! HOLy!!!! I did it. thank you guys, i finally took a apart. i love u all. The blow dryer is the best thing ever and i love ponies. Please don't spell around the swear filter, and please don't create a bajillion threads addressing the same topic. Many thanks! - tybalt762 Last edited by tybalt762 : 11-16-2008 at 02:56 PM. |

Good Job. But as stated above, make sure you clean it up. If any of that "crud" gets into the stabalizer or airlines it could cause you all sorts of grief. Also as Mavro pointed out above the stock air line may not be exactly the length you need. I did have to do a little bending and flexing to get it right on mine which is mounted on a bracket just below my grip in place of my ASA. If you look you can see the twist of the line. ![]() ![]() Last edited by tybalt762 : 11-16-2008 at 03:00 PM. |

After i did a lil change, its fine now. i juz shot about 200 rounds, and i noticed the shootin sound was different, there is a metal clin sound after i take each shot. is it suspose to be like that??? |
