How To Install a Female Palmer

Originally posted by A5OG member split0101
Since I havent seen this info already posted I thought I would post how I installed my female palmer on my A5. I tried to document the whole process. Hope this helps.

Items Required:

1. Palmer Female Stabilizer.

2. Pressure Gauge (optional). It comes in handy to be able to tell what pressure your running your marker at. You can pick any brand you like but you want to make sure to keep it under 2000 psi on the dial. If you get anything higher then that it is difficult to tell what pressure your running at. Since most high pressure tanks including CO2 hardly ever go about 1000 psi, I decided to go with a 1200 psi.

3. Bottom Mount. Lapco Universal Mount. This will replace where your ASA was on the stock A5. This is where the mounting hardware will attach too. You will need this also if your going to want to use a drop forward. There are a few brands out there, I just picked the Lapco because my local store had it in stock.

4. Ring Kit. I used the Palmer Stabilizer Mounting Rings. This is what will attack to the mounting block, and hold the palmer in place. There is also a block mountthat you can purchase but it is more expensive then the ring mount.

OTHER: If you cant remove your original 90* fitting from your ASA you will need to purchase one. Also you can use your stock hose in this setup as well.

How To Install a Female Palmer - Part 2

Installation:

1. The first thing you want to do is take off the original ASA. Use a allen wrench and unscrew the bolt holding it in place.

2. The next thing you want to do is unscrew the 90* fitting that is already attached to your ASA. It's on there really tough, and mounting it in a vice will really help. If your unable to remove it then you will have to purchase a 90* fitting.

3. If you got a gauge then you will need to add a little teflon tape to the threads.

4. Attach your bottom mount to where your ASA used to be. You can use the original screws or you can use the hardware that came with the mount.

5. Next thing you want to do is attach the ring mount. It comes with all the hardware you need.

Then attach the bottom half of the ring. Make sure to leave plenty of room so you can slide your palmer in place.

6. Install your guage (if you have one). The palmer will come with a plug where you can install the guage. You will have to remove the plug.

and install the gauge.

When installing the guage make sure you put it on nice and tight. You dont want any leaks. Also since the gauge had a nice chrome finish that I did not want to ruin, I used an adjustable wrench and tightened it over a cloth (on the gauge). This helps protect the finish.

7. Slide in the palmer into the ring mount.

Re: How To Install a Female Palmer - Part 3

8. Attach the original (or new 90* fitting).

You want to make sure the 90* fitting is on nice and tight, and that you used some teflon tape on the threads to prevent any leaks. Some guys like to use Loctite since it makes a really good seal. Once you get your fitting on, you might have to play with the palmer to get it to line up right with your tombstone so you dont have any kinks in the hose. I used my original steel hose and it worked out great.

9. Once you have everything the way you like it, tighten the screws on the ring mount so your palmer doesnt slide around. Screw in your remote male end quick disconnect, and your ready to go.

Re: How To Install a Female Palmer

Can you put a HPA bottle directly on to the stabilizer or do you have to have a remote?

Re: How To Install a Female Palmer

you can put a tank directly on there if you wanted but a remote would take a lot of weight off the marker.

Hey
Nice thread.

Can you install the stabilizer directly to the tank by any chance and run your remote to the marker?
