SCAR: acronym, stands for Special opertaions Combat Assault Rifle. The real SCAR is made by FNH-USA, in FNHs US soil factories only, issued exclusively for US SOCOM use only (United States Special Operations Command). In the US military there are two issued SCAR base rifles. To start with I'll use the US Army designations. There is the SCAR-L (L meaning "light") chambered in the 5.56x45mm NATO round configuration. Then there is the beastly version and my personal favorite the SCAR-H (H meaning "heavy") chambered in the 7.62x51mm NATO round configuration. From there you have on both base rifles interchangeable barrels. There are 3 for each basic round able to be used. But here's the beautiful catch... The basic rounds are as listed. SCAR-L: 5.56x45 NATO, 5.45x39mm AK rounds SCAR-H: 7.62x51mm NATO, 7.62x39mm Soviet (used in the AK designs and the soviet and chinese SKS carbine rifles) To make it compatible you swap the barrel out. As a bonus you have three different length barrels. The Long barrel, the "medium size" barrel, and the CQB barrel (Short) the draw back is only certain mags work with the magwell. An AK mag won't work, you will need to perform a battlefield pick up by inserting the individual AK type rounds into a premade western style mag made to hold those rounds. As I have seen M14 mags, as well as FAL steel mags work for the SCAR-H. The SCAR-H as seen in this forum with the CQB set up painted in black has the FAL steel 20 round mags. They look similar to the M16/M4 style mags but the groves are fabricated in different places and the grove width is different as well between the M4/M16 mags and the FAL mags The SCAR rifles are designated in the US Navy as Mk16 and Mk17. Mk16 is the SCAR-L, and naturally the Mk17 is the SCAR-H. The SCAR rifles are all a step back to the AK in that they are operated by a gas operated rotating bolt assembly. This is to keep bad things out of the reciever which became a problem with the M4 as it is completely a gas operating assembly. Hope this helps. The SCAR is one of my favorite rifles I have seen. If they made a Semi-Auto only version for civilian use in 7.62x51mm I'd surely save up to get one. ![]() Quote:
More so than you know. Meet my back-up marker. ![]() ![]() ![]() Not an exact mod but all it needs is the stock and sights, it already has the E-trigger. I'll eventually go to the APE board and noid for it. I know sometimes I slip as well but a clip is a stripper clip which is different from a magazine. I've had that drilled into my head by many a US troop I have met in my life.
