IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

Ok I'm not to adept at this sorta thing but until we get some .45 grips for the A5 on the market here's my plan.

I've seen people make grip covers out of wood for their 98's & what not... has anyone tried to dremel up themselves a pair of wooden .45 grips yet?

I think it's feasible.

Re: IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

that might work, but iit doesn't look too great and it isn't too strong. i was thinking about getting a mag grip ad welding and milling it to fit my a5, but im not too good with mechanics and electronics for the board and whatnot.

Re: IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

you can always paint or use extremely dark stain. & depending what kinda wood is used could be quite sturdy.

Personally I'm waiting on someone to just snap & try to make their own ghetto molds, lol.

Re: IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

lol... even better try to whittle one out of a solid piece of wood. I'm surprised airh0g or the UMS isn't all over those grips.

it is the wet dream of 95% on this site & many others afterall.

Re: IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

The problem is not the grips themselves. It's the grip frame. The stock, or even egrip, frame is not suitable for putting on additional grip panels like you can on a spyder, mag, or other standard marker. One would have to literally redesign the grip frame, leaving the pins/sear/springs in the correct places in relation to the push pin holes.

I know... I'm talking about carving out the entire grip halves... not just panels to cover the existing ones.

cut out the solid shape & then kinda hollow out the places that need to be for whatever internal pieces

Would need one stupidly highly skilled machinist.

Anybody up for the task? I'll buy a set!

Re: IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

I'm taking a machining course and I have a J&J 45 grip. I might talk to the teacher about how difficult it would be to replicate. If I had to guess though there are probably already several company's working on these due to the interest shown in various other threads.

Re: IDEA: .45 grips for the A5

Oh, there are a few companies that have already created "45 grips". The problem is they mean 45 degrees, and not .45 caliber style.

Seems the companies don't realize wth we're talking about.
