Re: JCS A5 rear Velocity Adjuster

I just ordered a Palmer Male Stabilizer, just waiting for it in the mail. My main question now is; What kind of RVA should I get to go with it???

Also should I get a JCS Goldmember Powertube after? is it neccesarily better than stock? If so I would definitly invest.

Re: JCS A5 rear Velocity Adjuster

I'm not the best expert but I have 2 cents to throw in. If you are using HPA I don't really see the point of a palmers stabilizer. I would say the stabilizer is only needed if you are using CO2. I personally don't feel that the use of a RVA would affect your FPS (for better or worse). The only questions I have are what tank/reg combo are you using? I am assuming that it is high pressure. However, you might want to do some background search on the reg as not all regs are the same. Some do have problems with dropoff and recharging. I would also think that if you are now using a RVA that you have removed, sealed or in some way shape or form gotten rid of the FVA.

BTW, what type of FPS range do you expect to see?

Re: JCS A5 rear Velocity Adjuster

The RVA affects FPS by making the spring softer or harder. By increasing tension you create longer dwell time. That is the amounto f time the valve is open which means that there is more air to push the ball which equals more FPS. The RVA is suppose to replace the FVA since the FVA just blocks air to decrease velocity. RVA is more conistent than just blocking the air, it changes how long the valve stays opened.

As for tank/reg combo, the only thing that should matter is the regulator on a tank as all tanks dot he same thing by holding air. The regulator on the other hand is what regulates output pressures. The recharge rate affects the drop off rate. Most tanks/regs will keep up with any gun so recharge rate really is not an issue. However the regulators on HPA tanks are not as precise as inline regulators. If you use an adjustable tank on a gun with no inline regulator, it would not do as well if you were to put a inline regulator inbetween the gun and tank.

if inline regulators did not work, do you really think highend guns would include them?

Re: JCS A5 rear Velocity Adjuster

Like mentioned before PPS stabilizers are great regulators.

if you never run CO2, then go ahead with any decent regulator like CP, Dye hyper, PE, AKA etc. Just dont buy the junk ones like PMI/pure energy tippmann regs etc.

Re: JCS A5 rear Velocity Adjuster

Yeah I use Co2, That's why I ordered the Palmer Male Stabilizer. (that would be an In-line Reg, between the tank & gun on the marker)
But again my question is What Kind of Rear Velocity Adjuster is best for the A-5?
I've read the Dead On RVA goes loose and turns the velocity down more & more as you fire, and I've also read the Ben Tippmann RVA is cheap plastic and breaks right where the pins fasten it to the marker.

has anyone ever had any problems with the JCS Rear Velocity Adjuster?
I'm considering purchacing this one, it seems like a decent upgrade for the A-5.

SilentDeath I agree with you about the RVA being more consistant than the Stock FVA. Blocking the air flow with a set screw is a Simple, Rugged and Inexpensive alternative to adjusting velocity, perhaps that is why Tippmann chose this design, it is however inconsistant and very inefficiant on air unlike a Rear Velocity Adjuster.
