T
Tank: n. The tank or bottle holds the propellant gas used to fire the paintball
from the marker. Tanks may hold carbon dioxide (CO2), compressed air (sometimes
called nitrogen, nitro, high-pressure air, or HPA), or more recently propane.
All tanks have maximum pressure ratings, typically measured in PSI. Tanks
come in a variety of sizes. CO2 tanks are sized based on the maximum volume
of liquid CO2 they are intended to carry. HPA tanks are sized by the total
volume of the tank. CO2 tanks vary in size from disposable 12 gram capsules
up to 40ounce bottles. HPA tanks are available in many sizes and are generally
rated in cubic inches (ci) as well as the pressure they are capable of holding.
All tanks require periodic hydrodynamic testing, as required by law, as a
safety precaution.
Tape: n. (slang) The sideline or boundary of the paintball field. This term
is commonly used in relation to the extreme right or extreme left of the
field. Players can more easily defend themselves from a position against
the tape because they have only three out of four sides to defend themselves
against since no one can pass beyond the tape. Sometimes players will "Run
the tape" which is to run a path along the tape line, or along the outer
boundary of the field. This is usually done in an attempt to flank an opponent
or create an ambush.
Tapeline: The boundary of a playing field.
Thread saver: n. A protective cap, usually plastic, placed on the tip of
a propellant tank or other threaded device to prevent damage to the screw
threads, which are essential to holding the tank in place.
Timmy: n. (slang) A slang term for the Bob Long Intimidator line of markers.
Tippy: n. (slang) A slang term for any marker manufactured by Tippmann Pneumatics.
Titanium: n. An elemental metal. Titanium alloys are used in the manufacture
of some paintball accessories such as bolts, valves, and regulators. Titanium
is notable for its strength, relative lightness, and resistance to corrosion.
It is denser than aluminum but much stronger for a given weight. In pure
form it is so hard that it is brittle and it is thus usually found alloyed
with other metals.
Tricked: A paintgun that has been modified.
Trigger: n. The mechanism used for firing the paintball gun, often similar
to the trigger of a real firearm.
Trigger Frame: n. A separate part to which the trigger and its mechanism
are mounted, usually in the form of a trigger guard and handgrip. Not all
paintguns have a separate trigger frame and instead mount the trigger and
trigger mechanism directly to the receiver.
Tourney: n. Also “tourny.” A slang term for tournament.
Tournament: n. A formal paintball competition, usually with prizes for the
winners. Also usually sponsored by paintball manufacturers or other groups,
and sanctioned by a paintball league or other governing body.
Tunnel Vision: When a player looks in only one direction, ignoring all other
angles.
