| Re: Nauz's Marker Collection New Photo and information Nauz, that is pretty much the most amazing collection i've ever seen. You ability to modify a standard gun and turn it into a work of beauty is just outstanding. I really can't say enough good things about your work, just that i'm envious of it! While i was going to try and buy your MP5 variant (if you remember) i decided that most of the fun is putting it together piece by piece. I'm still working on mine, slowly but surely. But i do want to know how you are getting your patented "weathered" look. Is that just scrubbing them with a brillo or what? you should make an "how to make your gun weatherized" thread. Please, lol? EDIT: Oh, and what do you think about the Opsgear Suppressor package? it's alot more expensive than the Lapco, is it really much better material/quality?

First of all, thanks for the compliments. I do appreciate it. In answer to your questions, the "weathering" or "distressing" is not difficult. You can use either a fine grade of wet/dry sandpaper or use the "sanding blocks" available at any home improvement or paint store. I've found they work very well and come in various grits from fine to coarse. Just lightly sand the raised areas to pick out the deteils being careful not to overdo it. After you're gone over all the areas and acheived the look that pleases you, go over the entire gun with a scotch brite pad carefully. Do this until you get a nice satin look. Follow up with a coating of 3 in one oil. Wipe the entire gun then wipe off all the excess using a paintbrush and qtips. You'll be surprised at how nice a look you can get with this technique. And in the field, the splatters wipe right off your gun. The suppressor question? Both are good. The Lapco covers the entire barrel so you actually don't shoot through the suppressor. You must use a barrel that fits it though, like the Opsgear fluted barrels or the Lapco Big Shot line. The Opsgear suppressor fits on the end of the barrel and by using one end or the other, you can get two different size barrels, but you must shoot through a part of the suppressor. Both are good and I use each one and can't really say I have a preference. You'll be happy with either one. Go for the one that offers the look you want. One other thing, you're right, the Opsgear suppressor costs more than the Lapco. But like all Opsgear's products, the quality is definately there. The Lapco is good too though. |

| Re: Nauz's Marker Collection New Photo and information That's no collection that's an Arsenal! I have visions of a Commando (Arny movie) type secret shed in your backyard with a key code pad hidden, the door opens and in racks displayed throgh the walls light from above.... Awesome thanks for sharing.

Good question....I don't know...I'll probably move back into painting. I'm dying to go into DuraCoat..... You're right, the dogs are great! I'd take a bullet for either of them. |
