Inconsistant distance bad performance

Hi all,

I'm new to the tippmann scene and i'm looking for help regarding some issues i'm having with my A5.

I'm running a r/t with hpa tank with 800psi output and a remote line with a 14" linear smart parts barrel.

when firing maybe 1 or 2 shots within a few seconds of one another the gun it seems to work fine. good distance and reasonable accuracy.

but when i make use of the response trigger maybe a 5 second burst of approx ten balls the distance drops off dramatically and the accuracy is terrible. The first few balls go a good distance then the rest gradually get worse until it maybe only reaches about 10-15 metres

I understand that consistency and accuracy will get slightly worse but it is really really bad.

I stripped the gun and everything seems in good order, i was breaking alot of balls the last time we played but i put that down to the weather being so cold. Good old scottish weather!

does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing these issues?

Any help or comments appreciated.

P.S. This is an excellent site, very informative!

Kelman

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

It could be that you're using a remote. Try hooking the tank directly into the ASA and see if you experience the same problem. If not, then its the remote. If you do get the same problem, then its something else.

Have you done this?
How-To: Polish Your Internals
That will help. Also, as Odin said, hook the bottle straight to the gun. I had an issue similar and it did not creep up until I used a remote hose. What I found was the hole in the bottom line ASA was too small. I've got a pic somewhere I'll see if I can find it.

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

I polished the internals the other night but i havent had a chance to try it as i need to get my tank filled, i'll try it with just the bottle and see if that helps, i dont think it will be the remote as my friend bought the same marker and remote line etc and his doesnt seem to suffer from this problem. i wont rule it out just yet though.

thanks for the help so far

Kelman

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

I found the pic. The one on the left was causing the problem. Fortunately I had access to another and the one on the right fixed it.

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

Also, you're using oil and not grease inside the marker, correct? Grease will cause all sorts of problems if you use it on the internals.

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

It could still be the remote, if you're screwing the remote in too far into the tank then it'll starve the air going to the gun. I think people recommend you turn the nob until your marker gets pressurized, and then another quarter turn after that. Not entirely sure if I got that right though...

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

As for your ball breakage, two questions.

1 Are the balls breaking in your barrel?

2 Or are the balls breaking in your cyclone?

If its in the barrel its a bad paint to barrel match coupled with cold weather, which makes paint brittle. If its in your cyclone then your obviously having feed problems there. If thats the case then consult in the Cyclone forum for help, I cant help you cause I've never had a problem with mine.

Re: Inconsistant distance bad performance

I think Lord Odin & Wrathbringer have the right idea about the Remote hose being the problem. When screwing in your cap, make sure you screw it in until you feel the remote pressurize. Then turn the screw 1/3 to 2/3 of a turn farther. Some remotes will cut off air flow which would cause the air to flow to slowly into the remote.

Some ASA's are also bad. Make sure you check that hole like cwest suggested.
