Grrr a-5 pins that hold cyclone

I have a little problem I purchased a used a5 with the sieral number starting with 3058 and when I was taking it apart to clean and inspect it i noticed some thing was wrong. The 2 pins that are molded on the right side of the frame that hold the cyclone from twisting are broken off. The two pins are in the cyclone. My question is does anyone have an idea on how to fix or is the frame toast and have to be replaced? If I have to replace can I just replace the right side? thanks in advance.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

I don't know what that would do. The cyclone may spin and you may have problems breaking banjo fittings. Then again if the main bolt is tight enough it may never do anything. And yes, the halves can be bought individually. They are not that bad expensive either.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

I honestly dont think they do anything but hold the cyclone steady. Like Cwest said, you should just make sure your bolt is tightened tight enough, and it should hold.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

did they actually break off, or did they just pull out of the receiver?

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

you could try using a very fine drill bit and tapping them to pull them out, depending on your equipment...or find a local machine shop to do it.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

Contact Tippmann. I had a similar issue. When I contacted them, they said to ship them the broken one, and they would send me a new one. So that is what I did.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

I bought a a5 from a paintball store and it was missing the two pins as well, so I called tippmann they had me ship my frame to them and they replaced it. for free, lets just say I have never been back to that store, It took me a month to figure out why my gun wasn't working properly, I tried everything, it wasn't untill a bought a new a5 online much cheaper than the crappy paintball store that I noticed that it was supposed to have pins there, now it works great.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

As a secondary option, if you've been thinking about upgrading to a Q-loader, now's a good time to do it.

Re: a-5 pins that hold cyclone

I would try and get a new receiver half. I found out the hard way that if I tighten my receiver screws too tight, my gun has all sorts of problems. Barely hand tight is the way for my a5.
