Cyclone & Volocity Adjustment Screw

Velocity Adjustment : & Cyclone

I know that adjusting the velocity screw in lowers you FPS for the gun, but does it effect the cyclone's air intake when you turn in or out the volocity screw? More air or less air to the cyclone?

Turning the adjustment screw in and lowering the fps will raise the air presure to the cyclone. As will turning the screw out and raising the FPS will lesson the air pressure to the cyclone.

Re: Cyclone & Volocity Adjustment Screw

Physics would say that the further you screw the FVA in, the more air would go to the cyclone, because of the increased back pressure as the screw obstructs the power tube more.

Edit: jhall9701 beat me to 'er.

Re: Cyclone & Volocity Adjustment Screw

It's does not work for the JCS Gold Power tube as there is no FVA. With the GPT you have to use a REG to adjust the PSI of air to the marker, hense adjusting the FPS of the marker. Some people use a RVA to assist in this adjustment.

Re: Cyclone & Volocity Adjustment Screw

i understand using the fva to adjust fps but it sounds like its also required to give back pressure to the cyclone. with a gold power tube what provides said back pressure?

Re: Cyclone & Volocity Adjustment Screw

The CVX provides enough back pressure without the FVA to operate the cyclone.

My set up:

Palmers reg
RVA
Gold Power tube
1/8 tubing
QEV
Lightning rod
Vortex mod

Had no problem with mine

The answer is NO.
You are not affecting the cyclone air intake.

Look at the powertube ... see that small hole? that's where the blowback comes from. Obstructing the flow from this hole will cause your blowback to lessen in pressure to your cyclone. Just make sure the fittings "line up" (each screw for the fittings has tiny holes). If you want to increase the blowback, the pressure within the gun needs to change. You can do this by adding stiffer drive springs. Yes that's all there is to it!

If youre still scratching your head ...
Let me elaborate further ...
if you're using a Response Trigger, you are sharing the blowback with the cyclone. Should you use fatter hoses? No! In fact you will lessen the pressure to power both the cyclone and response trigger. In the other hand you can use a fatter hoses to power both if you have more volume of air to power the gun.

If you have further questions ... ASK!

Re: Cyclone & Volocity Adjustment Screw

As each marker is different and velocity is also effected by weather conditions and altitude, the only way to 'chrono' your marker is with a chronograph.
