Runaway firing

i have the WAS board in my a-5 and whenever it is on anyother setting then semi it will continously fire once you pull the trigger enough times to activate the fireing mode, and it will not stop untill i uncock my marker. i have the double trigger on it and i did remove the silver clip and spring from it, i have no idea how to fix this. i have tried reseting all the settings back to the factory ones and it still did this.

Re: Runaway firing

It is one of two things, your egrip settings.

Try this thread:
A5 Egrip WAS problems :( help!

Or this:

Or your trigger.

Try this thread:

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Runaway firing

um that didn't help too much.. thanks though. everything suggested in those threads i have tried, besides sending it to tippmann, which i don't really want to do.
if it helps, i have tippmann double trigger(with the metal piece removed), pen srping mod(it was doing this before i added the pen spring), and polished internals if that matters at all.

Do you still hear the "click" from the electronics when you uncock the marker? If not, then it's a mechanical problem, not electrical.

If mechanical, it's either the sear & bolt slipping or the recoil of the gun is making your trigger walk.

If you're not hearing "clicks" try a really stiff trigger spring and see if it goes away. Also, just try firing 1 shot every couple of seconds and see if it runs away. Then try shooting really fast and and see if it happens. If the spring doesn't fix it, your sear and bolt are probably worn. How old is the gun?

If you do hear clicks, then you need to investigate the switch. The part of the trigger may be contacting it funny or the metal tab on the switch is bent.

If that doesn't fix it, then you'll have to send it to Tippmann. They have a pretty fast turn-around and are very good about not charging for warranty items.

Re: Runaway firing

yes i hear clicks, the marker is only about 5 months old, its probably had about 15cases of paint through it though. if i fire 1 shot every few seconds(not shooting fast enough to enable ramping) then it does not runaway, but as soon as the egrip swtiches over to ramping it will continously fire until i uncock the marker, or pull the trigger. the e-grip is only about a month old.

Re: Runaway firing

I had the exact problem.... Did the problem occur around the same time you installed the double trigger?

The double trigger has a tendency to stick against the sear release, and when you go auto the sear will hold the trigger in place until you manually stop it by uncocking it.

Try reinstalling the original single trigger and see if the problem occurs... If so I would recommend playing around with the double trigger and trying to get it to stop sticking, or go out and by a blade trigger, they are slightly different in size and don't get stuck as easily.

Hope that helps.

Re: Runaway firing

Check your sear. There are two styles used in the trigger for the A-5. The one used for an egrip should look like this:

The old style for mech grips has a more oval type of hole. The oval hole style creates havoc with the egrip causing it to go full auto.

If the sear is ok, check it for wear and the hammer also. If all else fails contact tippmann, as you may just have a faulty egrip.

Also, try another setting besides ramping.
