Re: Runaway E-Grip

Are you using the penspring and qtip mod or techt hairpin trigger kit?

Have you tried increasing debounce yet?

Should I now feel like an idiot and tell that looks like going back to original spring makes it much better?

Re: Runaway E-Grip

Yay! I finally got into programming mode!

Here's my old settings:
Dwell 8ms
Debounce 25 ms
RoF 15 bps

I decreased the RoF to 10 bps ( just because I want to lower my ammo usage a bit, I don't think it has anything with the runaway, ) and upped the debounce up to 50. With these changes I notice that the runaway only lasts about 5 shots or so instead of uncontrollable firing. I'm a little hesitant to take it higher because I might lose some responsiveness.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

What trigger are you using?

I dont think youll have issues with responsiveness if you ROF cap is set to 10 bps.

But there seems to be a more serious issue and adjusting debounce is only a minor fix to it. Debounce shouldnt be at high as 50, even 25 is a bit high.

Try oiling the solenoid, but only the areas that move, dont get the wires. Reduce debounce back to 25 ms.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

Just using a stock E-Grip trigger right now. The thing is that upping the debounce seemed to curb the runaway, even if not fixing it completely. I'll try oiling and cleaning the solenoid tonight.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

Jaron,

I know this sounds like a copout but, I really think your problem is the board. Did it get really wet or anything? Increasing debounce should help. It is defined as the minimum time between shots. In 10bps you should not need a debounce that high. According to the guy (Scott, I think) I talked to at Tippmann when I had my problem, your board should work fine in default settings. The dwell and debounce should only HAVE to be adjusted if you raise your rate of fire.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

I haven't damaged the board but since I got it used I can't vouch for its entire history. I do understand debounce ( basically a period after the switch is triggered that the board shuts down input from it. ) Also, I increased the debounce because the runaway happens in burst, response, and turbo mode, never in semi or full auto. And perhaps I should clarify that the runaway in this case is that the solenoid just fires in full auto, though yes only at the 10 bps cap I set. After the debounce was raised the runaway only happened for about 5 - 10 shots instead of staying on for seconds at a time. I'm guessing the runaway is happening because somehow the switch is getting flipped inadvertently ( a mechanical problem, ) or the board thinks it's getting a signal ( an electrical problem. )

Re: Runaway E-Grip

It could be the microleaf spring is bent to high. I think someone made that recommendation earlier, forget if its this post. But you would bend it slightly downward or a bit more flat. I am stumped if it is not any of these.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

PROBLEM SOLVED!!

Actually, I had to bend the microleaf even higher. I figured that since the runaway was only happening when I 'halfway" squeezed the trigger the microleaf had to be pretty close to the borderline even when the trigger was at rest. That way if I halfway pulled it, the leaf may have been vibrating a bit and switching it pretty fast until it settled down. By bending it up I've had no runaway on any settings and I dropped the debounce back to 25. Granted the trigger isn't quite as sensitive as it was before, but that's a concession I'm willing to make since I don't bother fanning it on semi anyway. Thanks all for your input!
