Runaway E-Grip

Ok, yes I know this has been covered before, but yes I have searched. The problem is that I had far too many hits to fully look through and filter out what may or may not be happening in my case. However, I have fully broken this down as much as possible and done as much research as I know of first.

So basically here's my problem. I just got a used E-Grip from one of my teammates. I know it's a WAS board, but I don't know what iteration ( last I knew there were a few versions. ) It does say "Equalizer" on it so I'm guessing it's the latest version. He says he tuned it to perfection before he gave it to me and I'm inclined to believe him because it's usually performing quite well. However I get runaway full-auto firing in the 3 round burst, response, and turbo firing modes, but never in semi or full-auto. The turbo mode runaway is different from the other two, it just seems to fire anywhere from 5 - 10 shots then stop whereas the burst and response just keep going. I've found that 99% of the time the runaway starts when I pull the trigger "halfway." If I consciously pull it fully the runaway never happens. Also if I fully pull the trigger during the runaway it stops. I've looked up the WAS manual online and tried to get into the programming mode so I can list the settings, but I can't seem to access the programming mode. I pull the trigger, hold the power button, release it, then the trigger, but it just goes to the normal semi-auto mode. Has anyone had anything like this happen before? Also, can you list your board settings so I can get a feel for what an acceptable range is? Thank you.

Disclaimer: Yes, I have checked the leaf spring and it's making good contact with the trigger. Neither the sear nor hammer catch have significant wear. I have not lost the magnet below the armature, nor is the battery riding too far up impeding the sear's motion.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

I have the exact same problem. I figure it's a problem with my board, so I ordered a new one from Tippmann and just received it. Is there a diagram/video/link here that shows how to change boards? I've googled it but can't find anything.

Re: Runaway E-Grip

I'm sure I read somewhere of this happening, and the owner had adjusted the rate of debounce to outside of the recommended range which caused it to runaway. This doesn't help because you can't get in to the programming mode.

Have you tried doing a hard reset back to the factory default settings?

Re: Runaway E-Grip

It does sound like the debounce issue. The trigger is bouncing off your finger more easily when its pull half way.

What kind of trigger are you running?

Dwell, ROF and Debounce settings?

The old WAS boards were really nice and easy to acess the programming menu, I am not fond of the new WAS board since its confusing trying to access the menu.

Otherwise the older and newer boards are the same. I think you can change firemodes when the board is on too, but I havent figured that out yet.

Silent: You [can] indeed change fire modes with the board on, all you gotta do is hold the power button for about a second then release and it advances to the next mode. I love changing in the middle of a round when people think you need a tool all i use is a paperclip stashed in my pocket

Re: Runaway E-Grip

I think you meant "can change fire modes". Pretty much similar to the APE. Cant say I am fond of that option. I did the push botton mod. Ive accidentally change the modes once and dont like anything but semi.

Ok so lets make this topic alive again.. Today I just tried out the egrip i got from a seller here and also get alot of runaways on turbo. Never on semi. How to solve this?

I have reseted it to its default settings and still get it. The problems is that I ran out of HPA now and cant test it anymore
