Cheers Clicky Pen Spring Problem

I have been trying to put the pen spring in my a-5, but I don't know if I should cut the spring to make it fit, or just try to squeeze it in their. I've tried to cut it with scissors, a knife, and a wire cuter, but have yet been able to cut it. How is this done? Any and all tips are appreciated.

Re: Clicky Pen Spring Problem

Sheet metal cutters work, the wire cutter point in needle nose pliers. I used wire cutters and they worked fine, just add a bit of muscle.

Scissors and a knife wont work.

Re: Clicky Pen Spring Problem

Yes you should cut it to fit it works better. A pair pf dykes or wire cutter should work.

Re: Clicky Pen Spring Problem

Just a reference, but I usually cut my springs to the same length as stock, maybe 1/4 - 1/2 turn longer, when I cut springs for the trigger.

Re: Clicky Pen Spring Problem

Arsenal, I highly recommend using a Papermate Flexgrip Elite pen spring. I found this pen at an Office Depot and it worked perfectly without cutting any of the spring. Have you read the "How To" thread by VVulfe? You can check it out here: R/T - Clicky Spring Mod Guide

If you can't find that pen where you live, I have an extra spring I can drop in the mail to ya. If you need it, PM me your address.

Take care,

Jay

Re: Clicky Pen Spring Problem

I tried cutting one with some wire cutters and I just bent the spring. I found out a dremel with a cutting wheel worked great.

Re: Clicky Pen Spring Problem

I would say cut it alittle at a time put it in and see if you like it. I like mine two coils bigger than what would fit right in.
