Re: E-Grip Magnet???

I just bought a used e-grip few days ago, and I had no idea about the magnet either. I think I have the older style frame cause I didn't see a place for the magnet to go. Wonder if Tippmann would send me a new style frame with a magnet?

Re: E-Grip Magnet???

I had a hard time getting the magnet to go back into position after replacing my single trigger with a double trigger.

I found that wrapping the magnet with a small piece of paper, trimmed off the corners of the paper, and fitted into the slot held the magnet firmly in place long enough for me to get the grip housing closed around everything nicely.

If you use this trick, watch the paper as you close the grip around it to make sure you aren't pinching paper in between the plastic. Sure there is probably something better I could have wrapped around the magnet, but this worked very well in a pinch.

Re: E-Grip Magnet???

I cut off a bit of an old hard drive's magnet and hammered (litterally) it into the cavity. I dont seem to have the runaway trigger problem anymore, but i raised the debounce value at the same time, so eiter might have fixed it.

Re: E-Grip Magnet???

Hmm...I've never cut a harddrive (rare earth) magnet before... was it difficult to cut? What did you use? a dremel? heh.

Re: E-Grip Magnet???

angle grinder with a cutting wheel, it's pretty soft, softer than steel, harder than alu, a dremel with a cutting wheel would do the job but i dont know if it would be able to generate enough heat to soften the glue that bonds the magnet to the steel plate.

Re: E-Grip Magnet???

hey guys - sorry to add more confusion, but here is my question. I had the original e grip from 2 yrs ago. i've recently purchased an APE board. i haven't seen a magnet, nor did it come with one. IS the APE board not supposed to have one?

Re: E-Grip Magnet???

I believe, from what I've read, that the magnet is new in a revised version of the W.A.S. EGrip.

I think that implies that the A.W.E. is different and therefore isn't likely to come with it... dunno for sure.
