How-To: E-Grip button

Man, were not playing paintball today, so we had to do something.

We got this Idea from someone here on the forum. He got a screw, and ground it down to size. I did a search to find out who did it, but couldnt find the thread. So, Kudos to you, whoever you are, for inspiring the idea. We simply took your design to an easier level.

EDIT: I have obtained information from DurtyDurnal that this mod may not work properly with the APE board switch.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-1/8 in. rivet

-Grinder (saves time)

-File (for fine tuning or if you dont have a grinder)

-Utility knife or fine line marker

-Pliers, preferably locking pliers

-E-Grip (WAS or APE, NOT the DIAL SET. (D'Oh)

You want this part of the rivet:

WHAT TO DO:

First, split the E-Grip. then take the head off of the rivet.

Lay the rivet in the top slot, where the button is, and mark with a utility knife or a fine line marker.

Cut:

And line:

Then, lock the rivet in a pair of pliers, vice grips, or whatever other mangling device you have in that cluttered tool box of yours. Be CAREFUL NOT TO BEND THE RIVET!

Grind the rivet almost all the way down to the line. For those of you who dont have a grinder, take a seat and start filing away!

Then, use a file to fine tune.

Tada! all done!

Re: How-To: E-Grip button

i did a similar thing....except i took a small nail and i covered it with glue gun then i put it into my grip...it works like a button and it is springy like a button so it resets itself when you let go...

Re: How-To: E-Grip button

Any ever had a problem of pressing the button during game play and changing to mode? I figured thats why the button is so darn hard to get to in the first place.

Re: How-To: E-Grip button

Ok, just made a discovery: It can't be done to the A.P.E. board unless you slightly modify the orignal switch. The A.P.E. board switch is slightly longer than the W.A.S. board, so there is no room to stick the rivet in there. You will have to file or sand down the actual switch before you can do this on the A.P.E. I do not recommend this because in the event of the removal of some of the switch, you might pull the switch off due to a snag or etc. Therefor, I never attempted this mod on my board. Just a little heads up for you A.P.E. owners.

Re: How-To: E-Grip button

Hm, I didnt know that... thanks for the heads up! Post edited.

Actually, since the rivet has a hole in the middle, do you think it may actually work, since it isnt just a flat spot?

Re: How-To: E-Grip button

The hole is just a little too small; I've been through a few rivets, but the holes aren't quite big enough.
