I try hard to take minimal shots and make them count.
You can keep heads down with 1-2bps just as easily as 10-15bps in most cases, at least how we play.
This is just how I feel, to each his own...

I'm going to just echo this as it pretty much says exactly how I play with my A5. I've had multiple occasions where guys with electros (space guns) would run by me and I'd hit them 5 times in the 2 seconds I saw them run. After the game, they'd come up and ask me if my gun was on full auto. Every time I have to explain to them that I don't even have the option of full auto, it was all me lighting them up.

Mech/RT. My battery budget is spent on my Xbox controllers.

Re: Mechanical or E-Grip, what's yours?

I agree that there is something really mind-grabbing about a fully mechanical marker. One day I hope to grab an older Automag (or maybe a 'cocker) to use as a backup \ loaner, and so I have something I can tinker with endlessly.

For now though, I am digging my E-grip. Getting back into paintball this year, I bought my pre-2011 A-5 from a guy who already had a newer A-5. He basically bought mine from an older guy who was "retiring" to get the big HPA tank he was selling with it. His friends played with stock semis, so he had no need for the E-grip burning batteries in semi mode, and he gave me a decent deal on it.

Since I play mainly woodsball with a small squad of 2-3 friends against any takers, I have found the rapid fire modes to be a great force multiplier when needed. If we are hitting a larger group or a bunker, it gives our small group the ability to produce the "violence of action" to be successful, or to support a break contact if needed.

I have the WAS board and I haven't had some of the problems others seem to with runaway triggers and whatnot. The trigger pull is as easy and smooth as can be. I have a membrane-style button that can be pressed easily with a finger but can't be activated by just holding the grip, which has countered the annoying auto-off. If I need to get tournament or field rule legal, I can open the grip and slide the button right out of the little retainer.

Admittedly, I don't find myself in full auto too often, since I can't afford to use that much paint. The 3 round burst mode on the WAS board seems a little wonky to me so I generally end up using auto-response. I guess it was an easy choice since I got my setup cheaper than I could have bought a used A-5 and E-grip seperately, but I think if I had it all to do over again I still would have gotten an A-5 and E-grip but with the APE board. I like the versatility, and with a better burst mode and no auto-off I would have no complaints.

Re: Mechanical or E-Grip, what's yours?

I always bring at least 2 mechanical markers. One for myself, and one to loan one of my friends who all use Egrips. It always ends up seeing action.

Re: Mechanical or E-Grip, what's yours?

I've had a response before but I wasn't a fan of finding the sweet spot all the time. My x7 came with am egrip off eBay and I love it but I have it set for auto response.

Re: Mechanical or E-Grip, what's yours?

I have an egrip on my X7 and I never take it off semi. I have a RT on my A5 and I prefer mechanical (in this context meaning non electric)

Re: Mechanical or E-Grip, what's yours?

Same as Dema, i've got the e-grip and went to alot of expense to get it (issues with the shop not appreciating 2011 A5 wouldnt take the x7 select fire) but yeah as time goes on, I use semi only really, full auto is most banned plus guzzles gas, good for scaring rentals tho! a tempted to get another a5 and have an r/t. If you can afford egrip its ok, but eventually I worry its going to get wet or worse.
