APE Board, Semi-auto, Full-auto: One Possible Solution

A friend had a problem with his APE board/etrigger. The problem is one that I searched for on the forums here. I found plenty of people reporting it, but not many fixes were available. The problem, is that when you have your e-board set to semi-auto (or any setting really), and pull the trigger the gun will run away on full auto, usually causing a massive explosion of paint in the process.

I was really frustrated by this problem as he had replaced a W.A.S. board with the APE board on my suggestion. I thought that he had gotten in and messed with the dwell etc.

Long story short is I figured out that he had replaced his stock trigger with a double trigger. The double trigger is set up for the MECHANICAL trigger systems by default, and you have to remove the metal pin and cage on the trigger before installing it in an etrigger. They say a picture is worth a thousand words....

If you don't remove this it will keep the sear from sitting back down, and it will continue to fire in a full-auto manner, until you release the trigger.

This seems like common sense but if you are not familliar with the way the e-triggers work, it can lead to a lot of frustration. Long story short RTFM on your double trigger before installing it!!

Hope this helps some that may have this same problem...

while this what you say is a true statement i do not believe its the cause of most of the runaway trigger issues people post here.

i know for a fact it isnt what is wrong with MY was e-grip (which is on the way back to tippmann who said they would replace it)

nice illustration tho and it will probably help someone out of a frustrating situation

Absolutely! I just wanted to post my solution, in hopes it would save some poor guy from buying a new board, or getting his board back and it still not working.

My double tippmann double trigger did *not* come with a manual.

Edit: I just searched their website and found it:

Re: APE Board, Semi-auto, Full-auto: One Possible Solution

Run away and the marker not recocking are 2 seperate issues.

The metal clip you describe causes the marker not to recock properly causing the marker to sound like it is firing at 30+ bps. If you have this 30 + bps cycling, then its the metal clip. I've had the solenoid stick a little bit that caused this issue as well.

The runaway trigger is when the marker is firing in "full auto" but will not exceed the BPS cap, regardless of mode. So the marker is firing fine at a reasonable bps, just in an uncontrollable fashion. Solutions to the runaway is either programming or microleaf/trigger adjustments. Bump up debounce by several factors cures this typically.
