Re: Rampage A5 v2.0 Code update

Bit, thanks for the information. I hope I get to use it. Disregard the recent PM I sent to you.

Okay, so my new APE board arrived last Friday. Unfortunately, I must have been a bit punchy, b/c at first I thought the board was inoperable. However, it appears to work like a champ! I am working on adjusting set-points and will post a more exhaustive review later.

For 30 BPS (you're really shooting an A5 this fast??)
MGRF (30) / Rate (6) = Rampage Rounds (5)

so if I understand it right I need to set the MGRF to the rate of fire that I want to achieve once ramped up (say 30) AND set the number of pulls required to go from semi to rampage at 6 pulls per second.

Oh and yes I will be using my a5 at 30bps.....my Qloader hit 25bps on the v1 with no problem.

Thanks

Yes, since we limit the Rampage Rounds setpoint to 5 balls max, you need to ramp at 6 pulls per second to attain a 30 BPS "capped" stream of paint. That would make a very impressive video... semi, then a 30 BPS rope!

Bit here... I thought I'd update everyone regarding the new v2.0 A5 Rampage code I've been working on. I've just completed the firing operations and I'm now starting on the programming section. The new code provides a fusion of our previous woodsball and tourney code versions in one set of code.

There are 8 firing modes in the v2.0 code:

Semi
Burst (programmable 2-5 shots)
Reactive
True Full Auto
Turbo+ (programmable ramp point)
Rampage (programmable ramp and burst rounds)
PSP3 (tourney legal)
NXL Full Auto (tourney legal)

New Setpoints:

MGRF (5-30 BPS)
Dwell (2-20ms)
Debounce (2-20ms)
Burst Rounds (2-5)
Rampage Burst Rounds (2-5)
Turbo+ Ramp Point (4-10 PPS)
Rampage Ramp Point (4-10 PPS)
Base Group Enable (Semi/Burst/Reactive/Auto)
Ramp Group Enable (Turbo+/Rampage/PSP3/NXL)

v2.0 Highlights:

The new code base has vastly improved trigger buffering over the prior code base, providing the smoothest "trigger walking" you've ever experienced with your A5 in all firing modes.

We've lowered the minimum rate of fire from 15 BPS to 5 BPS (after many user requests) and upped the maximum to 30 BPS (though it's not easily attainable). You'll appreciate this lower MGRF with our improved trigger buffering.

Any of the 8 firing modes can now be individually enabled/disabled, providing you a fully customizable marker. Pick any combination of the 8 modes you wish. Imagine placing the button extension modification on your E-grip and having the ability to switch to any combination of modes you program on the fly?

We've not compromised on any part of our legacy features... you'll still enjoy the instant on, ultra-efficient power consumption you've become accustomed to. There's some subtle changes to the LED operations, but nothing that you won't instantly catch on to...

The new code base will be available for all Rampage A5 users. It will require that we get the board back in our hands for reflashing. We're still working out the details on how we'll accomplish this, and there will be a nominal charge for return shipping (Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation).

Anyhow, just wanted to share. More updates will soon be coming on our web site.

(P.S. BT Users, you're next)

I will send out my board in a week. In the meantime, whatever became of this thread?

APE A-5 External Fire Selector Switch..

Is APE going to create this option? If not, can you give tech support here on how to make this mod using other supplies?

Um, better yet...can you guys dev a wirless, weaver mounted solution using this?

Re: Rampage A5 v2.0 Code update

It was done on the X7. It would take a lot of work to the A5 clamshell plus a newly designed gripframe to make it happen on the A5. It's a bummer, but a reality. The wireless controller could probably be done very similar to the bluetooth loaders that are already out there.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to play around with a simple solution using a PICC and touchpad in the meantime...and you though APE was going to take a long time hahaha.

Re: Rampage A5 v2.0 Code update

Would it be possible with this new code to set the burst rate of fire at 25 bps, and the full auto rate at 12 bps?

Re: Rampage A5 v2.0 Code update

Both of my boards have a run away issue. I set them to full auto one at 15bps and one at 30bps. I can fire short bursts of full auto but if I hold the trigger for more than a second 90% of the time it locks into full auto and I can stop it by grabbing the cocking handle and pulling it back a little. Is anyone else having this issue?

Boards?

When you pull the E-grips off of the marker frames and operate them what happens? Do they still runaway?

I just check and I could hold them down for several seconds (alot longer than on the field) and no problems. I didn't need to take the grip off the receiver though, one of them is in a B-5 so that's a little difficult. The only difference is that on the field they had air on them. I have to look at the air valve now to see what's up. I know the sears are good since I saw them when I put the grips back together. The v2 flash was the only thing, other than the velocity adjustment, that changed between games. I was hoping it wasn't the APE product since it has been good in the past.
