Ever had problems tuning an RT?

Okay... If you have noticed my other thread... I just got a used RT system for my a-5.

Well I got my cyclone to work and decided to try and tune my rt....

I can't get the flow screw to make my gun stop firing...

the screw is really tight but I won't stop firing... Where should I look to fix this problem?

I checked out all the orings on the system before installing and changed out a couple of them that were pretty crappy looking.

What else could there be?

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

Don't worry, I had the same problem when I bought my R/T a few weeks ago. The gun should never completely stop firing when tunning your R/T. Just make sure you tighten the screw completely (but make sure you don't tighten it too much or u could mess it up) and from there you slowly untighten it until you get the desired rate of fire.

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

It won't stop the marker from firing altogether. What it will do is make it tighter and tighter under a higher rate of fire when the screw is fully tightened. So, if you try to pull the trigger (normally) at a rate of about 4bps, you will feel the trigger getting harder and harder to pull. That means it's working correctly.

Then, you screw the flow screw out, until you get your desired rate of fire. It may take a turn or two before you get multiple shots at all.

I'm sorry but I don't think I quite understand what you mean JackRock...

When you say pull it normally, you mean one shot one pull or just what exactly?

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

No just sqeeze the trigger and hold it..

Start with the screw all the way in, then slowly, quarter turn at a time, turn it out.. sqeeze and hold the trigger every time..

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

Yep... air up all your tanks... I start by turning the screw to the point that it is next to impossible for me to pull the trigger... It will still fire when you pull the trigger but it is under pressure from the piston and it has like a 50 pound pull... then I slowly turn the screw and pull the trigger after each adjustment looking for the "spot"... eventually you get to the point that you get the piston to start to pulse nicely and then you can further tune it with micro screw adjustments. Mine ROLLS now.

If you are not getting resistance from the RT piston I wonder if it is leaking... or if it is stuck... take a look. Under gas pressure it should extend.

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

See I can't get the piston to have that kind of pressure... Where might the problem be lying?

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

Well... will the piston move freely while it is installed in the frame? Maybe it is "stuck" or needs some oil so it has some glide?

Re: Ever had problems tuning an RT?

If you cant get a very hard trigger pull with the adjuster screw turned the whole way clockwise, and you have nothing but light pulls. Then the problem is a very small o-ring on the RT trigger that gos UP into the top receiver. These get cut very easily during rebuilds. Even a slight knick will cause it not to work.

We need more info about whats happening also. Not sure if your saying, you cant get pressure in the trigger pull, or the piston wont extend far out?
