It's never too late... next time you break it down and clean/grease it... trim the spring .

Yes it helps with BPS because it reduces the friction between the ratchet and the piston.... only remove 1 or 2 coils or it wont have enough tension to stay in constant contact. ALSO the end you cut from must NOT go to the ratchet, it will have a burr on it that will drag on the ratchet axle.

Other than polishing your internals, installing an APE, and QEV, your all set to go 25 BPS
