Re: HPA vs. CO2, Pros & Cons of Each

Great stuff, Jaron! This should definitely any new comer make an informed decision when making that choice - CO2 or HPA.

Get HPA if you want to go faster rate of fire because of its faster recharge rate and consistency.

CO2 tanks are heavier than HPA tanks

Check your local paintball field if they can fill up to 4500 psi before purchase a HPA tank.

Thank me later =)

Way to "over simplify" the subject. Sometimes it only takes a single, monosyllabic, response to get the point across. In this case the extra effort is well received.

Re: HPA vs. CO2, Pros & Cons of Each

If you play purely Recball, your fill locations are limited, your gunna doesnt shoot super fast (20+) and you get good enough preformance from CO2
DONT SWITCH
you have no reason to

If your a bit more extreme, play at fields, your gun cycles a bit faster, or you just want a tad bit more performance
go with HPA... you wont regret it
Even a cheap 72 3000 steel tank will do better then a 20oz co2... there about the same size

Re: HPA vs. CO2, Pros & Cons of Each

I did some research and posted what I consider to be some official numbers on CO2 pressure at different temperatures. These numbers are only as accurate as the equations I could find so if someone spots an error, please let me know.

Re: HPA vs. CO2, Pros & Cons of Each

I've just now started to get interested in using HPA as a gas source. I have a Tippmann A-5 with W.A.S E-grip and will be using full auto on and off. Would a simple 48CI/3000PSI tank with about 800PSI output be about right? I just want to be able to get at LEAST as many shots as I would get from a 20oz Co2 tank.

Also, I have a remote line. Do I need a special sort of remote for HPA? I wouldn't think so, but I want to make sure. Thanks!!!

Not even close to what you'd get from a 20 oz CO2. From what I've read, with an A-5, you need at least a 72/4500 HPA tank to equal a 20 oz CO2 tank (Assuming that you're playing when the temp is above 70*).

Any remote should work just fine with either.

i'm in Oklahoma and is usually hot, so will my co2 tank be fine. Do c02 tanks only cause damage when in cold weather?
