You may not need insurance. Depending on who the insurance carrier for the field is. If its Cossio they do policies for fields that cover tanks.

The big thing is transport fees. Gas is a killer. I'm still paying off my gas bill from D-Day 2007.

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

I just found out, Tanks made on real vehicals before 1998 are grandfathered however, unless on a private field, alot of venues wont allow new ones to be build on real vehicals, they only allow new ones that are made on golf-cart / gators etc. Unless its a tank that was already made and grandfathered in. And to say " oh its been built for ahwile" routine, well.....most players will know from experience and word of mouth if your tank has been to events before...lol...

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

Me, I have a million dollar liability policy and now I dont even have a tank... lol Gotta love fate! Yeah, it just depends on the fields. What they are willing to accept.

Anyone that has a tank and cant find acceptable insurance I believe Cossio is doing individual policies for tankers as well as the fields. Dont quote me on that. But here is the web addy if any one wants to call them.
Insurance for business, inflatables, family fun centers, paintball. We also offer rock walls, worker comp, and many more

My home field switched over to Larry which is the only one that I know of that is wrting tank specific insurance for fields, and they ended up coming out better then with their other carrier. Gotta love that.

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

It differes depending on who you go with. I dont have a clue about Cossio. I've heard $300 to $500... Some teams are using ATV insurance to cover.

Dead by Dawn uses Off-road ATV liability insurance from Nationwide for thier golf cart based tank. And they said they paid $63 a year for $300,000 worth of coverage. They said Progressive also offered basicly the same coverage for $90 a year. The Blackhearts got Progressive for $75 a year. And Progressive had no problem insuring it as a paintball tank. But you need to tell them up front that you are using it for paintball.

I have a personal umbrella liability policy for myself for one mil that I have my vehicles and now former ATV listed on. $50 some a year for this coverage. Mine should cover me, as long as I am driving, no matter what I'm doing. If someone else is driving my tank, then all bets are off. You notice I said should. I have a lawyer friend that sells insurance I was going to chat with about it to see what he thought. Never got that far. My tank went bye bye so I didnt need to worry with it any more. The liabilty policy I have is still usefull for so many other reasons, so I kept it. This makes your regular car insurance go up a decent bit. That sucks, but oh well.

Now me being the paranoid that I am, I think you really, really want it in writing that they understand you are using this vehicle in a paintball game. Dont want them coming back if you have to use the insuance and them saying they didnt know you were using it for paintball and it aint covered. Then your screwed. That's the thing with Cossio, it is tank specific. You know your covered.

Loyds of London also does tank specific insurance, but God help you, if you go through them. Were talking a few hundred per day, per event.

Like I stated, if you plan on taking it to scenarios, and not just on your private field, it cant be a new project on a vehical chassis OTHER then golf cart / gator. AND if it was an older one, it has to be on a 4wd off road capable chassis thats PRE 1998
