Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

I dont know fully, because of liabilities and such, even if its an older vehical, I was told that you still cant build a new tank out of a regular vehical anylonger. the ones already build are "grandfathered"

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

not sure how much money you have but a remote control turret on the hood or roof would be pretty sweet just on a cool factor kinda like the gun mounted under apaches however I doubt you would be able to hook yours up to a helmet and make the turret follow wherever you look =P

This is the first thing that came up on google however if you know anything about rc cars or helis then you know that created custom remote control devices is a sinch if you have a decent radio. You could make your own for probably 1/4 of that price.

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

Cossio is probably the only source to insure a road vehicle based tank other then Loyds of London. And you'll have to call them direct to see if they can. I just dont know. If anyone can, it'd be him.

See the deal is the past several years, there has been no tanks covered under paintball insurance. The main companies changed hands and they had no clue about paintball in general and deffinetly didnt know tanks were used. When they found out, it went bad. The only field that had tanks covered under insurance was Oklahoma D-Day and that was because they have to go through Loyds of London for a special policy due to the size of their event. And tanks were specified. So if you didnt have your own insurance, and no one did because we didnt have too, then you werent covered. Everyone incuding the field owners thought their insurance would cover it. They were wrong. And in this day and age, you cant just rely on the fact that your not gonna run anyone over. You hope you're not going too, but accidents happen. And most field owners are gonna make sure their butts are covered even if it includes keeping tanks off the field.

Luckily my field owner started working with the two main insuracne provider to get this situation rectified. Obviously tank insurance is a major concern to our field as well as our particular team, Team ODX. We are tank heavy and an armored based team. Its one of our claims to fame so to say. He was actually able to do alot of the leg work for the paintball community in getting Cossio to insure tanks. Cossio actually did better then originally thought. Our field changed providers to Larry Cossio and ended up spending less then they were with the old provider plus getting the tanks covered. Hard to beat that.

If you really want to get into armor the places to go are WARPIG.com in the tank section. Tons of info in there in the older threads and lots of tankers roaming about. Also another good spot is on PBJunkie.com in their tank section. Most of those guys are from the Southeastern US but they are some very experienced tankers in there.

Now here is the online application for Cossio's tank insurance. Note the restrictions. Also note it is event specific, not a year long policy...

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

Trying to keep 4runner road worthy:

Turret ideas - bolt it to the top of the 4runner so it can be removed and stowed or trailered. Thats supposing the 4rnr still runs and is roadable.

Gunner windows- will windshield or rear window or headlight wipers work? Never tested or heard if wipers can deal with paint and shell bits.

Then there's this: just for fun.

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

Remote control dual gun turrets in the front in the headlight area. Remote controled LAW launcher on the hood or front windshield.

Dual Law rocket launcher in the dome turret along with dual markers.

Gun ports in the rear passager windows. Gun ports in the side and rear cargo windows. So about 5-6 people max carry. So everyone will have gun ports to fire from, except the driver of course.

This is all assuming you have a disposable income.

Oh and since someone mentioned window wipers...get window wiper motors and arms on the side and rear with water jets to clean it all off. Get a water resevoir mounted on the roof so you wont need a pump.

Re: paintball tank suggestions? bring your craziest dreams!

just a suggestion, make a rear door hatch, like the apc's in real life

then make it have tracks, instead of wheels,

then have and intergrated mine burial device

gun ports, lots of them

a 50 cal styled gun mount on the roof, with a
tippmann 98 enclosed in releastic 50cal shroud, with egrip, laser, and
flatline, and 2000 round box mag under the gun

turbocharge, and a train horn
360 degree fog lights
spotlights
and r/c helicopter uav landing dock

that would be my wet dream
