Color contrast not very good in the pic but in person it looks really decent for beginner painter with spray cans. Added Ladder Rail covers (painted) Removed the LAPCO logo from the mag and applied grip tape (painted over it) ![]() DATE 12-3-10 RAP4 Metal tube modded to include RVA and a Magpul ACS replica stock ![]() ![]() ![]() UPDATE 11-30-10 Swapped some parts from my M412-A5 Will be getting CAMOed asap New flip up sights ![]() *******UPDATE******* ******10-22-10******* Top rail mounted GREEN laser Shrouded APEX on 12" J&J Edge Elite Fenix TK-12 light Lapco mag used for tool storage ![]() UPDATE 8-7-10 Filled Name Plate Paint (finally) Flat topped by using two spec ops rails and removal of rear site/modded reciever to slide spec-ops rail all the way back. ![]() UPDATE 7-27-10 (Still have a paint job planned but weather is too humid!) Added APEX shroud to replicate silencer. ![]() ![]() ****FROM THIS POINT ON IS THE BEGINING OF THE BUILD***EVERYTHING ABOVE THIS IS UPDATES WITH THE NEWEST AT THE TOP**** 1st a pic of the whole thing then some pics of some of the things I've done that I haven't seen done yet. (Not earth shattering, I know). If you look close you can see that the CAR stock sits flush with the back side of the A5. I added a hole to the buffer tube to allow this new position. So it's a 7 position CAR stock now! ![]() I made a rail extension that continues the top SIR rail all the way to the back of the A5. (THIS MOD DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE) Then added flip up front/rear AR15 sights. ![]() Up close view of home made rail, sight... ![]() One of the main things I wanted was a full bottom rail so I added one. Another thing seen in this pic is I removed that little bit of a tab that the shroud has on it at the bottom/rear, this allowed the shroud to butt up against the mag. ![]() ![]() Inside view of bottom shroud showing how I reused some of the un-used original "nuts". The nuts are 4mmx.70mm which is perfect to use with the counter sunk phillips head screws I used. (the nuts were removed from thier original location due to the mods shown further down)... ![]() I used the A5's original foregrip mount nut as a mount point for the bottom of the S.I.R. shroud. Modified a counter-sink phillips head screw and counterink cut the rail... ![]() I relocated the original S.I.R. bottom rail to the front/left position. Then swapped the left and right side rails (will explain why further down)... ![]() OK, all you S.I.R. shroud owners know that the bottom plastic part of the shroud could use some help to make it more "solidly" attached to the top metal part. 1st I did away with the left side quick release screw. Then I added mounting points: The left side got two and the right side got one. I used existing holes in the rails for the screws to go thru (an attempt to make it look more factory). Drilled thru the plastic and into the metal. Tapped the holes 4mmx.70mm for the counter sunk phillips head screws. (moving the rails and drilling holes is why I had unused original "nuts" from the shroud) Left side with the plastic dropped down to show location of the new mount screws... ![]() Right side with plastic dropped to show new screw... ![]() Pics of the air line. Basically it is all 1/8" hardline out of the tombstone-to 45* fitting-to female/female adapter-to male quick dis connect. Had to cut a little of the mag for the QD to work, still needs some clean up work... ![]() ![]() ![]() This mod has it's own thread in the "mods/upgrades" section but I included it here too. Modded buffer tube to include a RVA. Drilled out drive spring hole, installed 6mmx1.0mm allen set screw. The screw is threaded in/out to make drive spring pre-load adjustments. YES, you have to remove the stock to make the adjustment but it's better than NOT having a RVA, IMO. Very simply and easy to do. The deeper you drill the longer the screw you can use and the more reliable it will be. Works fine for me so for... ![]() ![]() LOTS MORE TO COME>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
