Yes, there is more. That is due to you not viewing the site everyday. If you wish to see the new, view the site everyday or search the forums by sections for new post. That is the way it is and will be. This is not meant to be mean, it is just the way the majority wants it.

jhall, I'm on almost everyday and yet there are times when I miss a few days and I'll come back and there will be between 500-1000 posts. Your saying that instead of simply adding a few pages so I can see all the new posts I would have to go into every single section of the forum looking to see if anything of interest to me has been posted? I'm sorry but that just doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't affect the people who are on regularly in any negative way (that I can think of, maybe I'm wrong) so why not? I'm not trying to be a pain, just to understand why. I don't mind if it stays the way it is, it just seems that it would be better the other way.

I have been an administrator/moderator/developer on more forums that I can count on my fingers, and that just sounds silly to me.

The "New Posts" search should query ALL threads with new posts that the user has not viewed since the last tracking cookie was issued, or since they clicked the "Mark all posts as read" button. Last time I checked that's how IPB and MyBB (the two I've used most) work.
