Of course it does. The drive spring has to overcome the mass of the hammer
while gravity is working against it. It doesn't impact the valve pin with as much force, and doesn't release as much air. Consequences are: there's also less air left over as blowback for the cyclone to operate on.
Go ahead. Chrony any Tippmann while it's vertical. Try finding the sweet pot with it pointed up, too. Another thing to try is getting a chrony reading while it's pointed
down. You should get a higher velocity.
