Something interesting about your cyclone.

Here is something interesting that some of you may or may not have tried regarding your cyclone feeder.

In short, I was having some paint breaking issues in my cyclone awhile back. I had attributed this to using some paint that was too brittle, and indeed the paint was very brittle.

However, I had my first game of the season a week ago, and had to use field paint only. It was good paint, and it would survive the drop test for five drops. But! I was still breaking a lot of paint at this game.

Now, to the point of my post: After de-burring the following places where paint comes in contact with the marker receiver half, I was still having paint breaks at an alarming rate!

The first two photos reference something that I have seen posted before...

Now for the most important photo of the day!!

I noticed that each of the cyclone sprockets/paddles had sharp edges on the "leading" edge of the sprockets. All you need to do is round these edges over and "blend" them into a more natural curve with the rest of the sprocket.

Also, round over the tops of the sprockets, as paint rides around on top of the sprocket before it can fall into place to be fed into the marker.

Any sharp edge will knock a whole in the paintball before it enters the chamber! A recipe for disaster!

So far, I have not broken anymore paint after having smoothed off the sprockets!
----

EDIT:--> My cyclone is completely stock... no upgrades whatsoever.
----

EDIT:-->
Let me know how this works for everyone! It worked for me, so I hope it will work with others. I will be interested to have some feedback from anyone who tries this!

This may even be a good thing to do for those using the Vortex mod or the JCS Jet Click upgragdes.

Thanks for the advice. I did have some breaking using marblelizer. I am going to give this a try.

That's a good idea. I have some buddies that have problems using brittle paint. They'll be very happy to see that there's a solution!

Re: Something interesting about your cyclone.

I wonder if this would help in cold weather conditions. I guess I'll have to wait until winter to find out (unless I try it in my freezer). In any case this seems like a must-do mod.
