| Warplay Paintball (Warplaypaintball.com) is not your average PB field. The owners are former Marines and one is a history teacher. The fields are based off of real battles. They are not plywood nailed to trees but actual cinder block bunkers, bridges, a real command post complete with sandbags, and other realistic bunkers, obstacles and barriers. Tor (owner) has designed the fields to be defendable, but you can't entrench yourself/team. He has angled the various barriers so that you can get flanked. The fields are all built together so that you can play using them as a single field depending on the size of the group. The games are 25 minutes long (!!) with a 5 minute respawn. It's like being in a mini-scenario game. The rentals are A5's with RTs! They even demo how to find the sweet spot. Rates are very reasonable - $15 field fee, $15 rental, $10 all day HPA (with tank), $5 food (pre-order from nearby deli), field paint $15 500/$45 case of Heat, $55 for Midnight. The cheap field paint is just that, kinda cheap. $10 fee for bring your own paint. The refs (mostly Tor's family) are all about player safety, not impressing their tourney wanna-be friends, as I have run into at other fields. If you get hit and a ref sees it, he will wave a towel/rag and yell "he's hit, let him out!" and if need be block the player from the overshooting idiots. The games played are capture and defend, cap the flag and Air Force One (think VIP in Counter-Strike). Plus whatever else Tor can think up.I was in a great hide guarding the flag during the last game of the day and taking people out as they tried to cross the bridge. Oh, yeah, did I mentioned Tor designed in choke points? The ref knew where I was but never gave me away! I finally ran out of paint/air and called myself out. That cemented for me the need to go no-where else for the foreseeable future. This place rocks. ![]() Update: Been there 4 times now. This last weekend (10 March) I was merrily shooting when the gun sound changed. I realized no paint coming out. Manual fed cyclone; 1 shot. Yup, ratchet broke. Gunny (other owner) gave me a new ratchet and replaced the ratchet in 5 minutes flat! These guys are awesome. They don't advertise yet so spread the word. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Re: Warplay Paintball near Fredericksbug, Virginia Spoke to Tor, one of the owners and found that his place is a great MIL-SIM field. Bunkers are built to spec, as are most of the rest of the features. Great place to hang out, especially when some of his Marine buddies drop by to play. Sincerely, Andy Van Der Plaats |
