After hearing about this field from many places, I decided to check it out.

It's a little hard to find, even with directions, but once you find it, you'll remember where it's at. As soon as you drive in, you feel like you've turned into the wrong entrance because there are fields right next to the driveway. You're just hoping that the place hasn't opened up yet and no one is following the tape line under heavy fire. The last thing you need is for your car to have welts, too.

The parking lot is a good size and is conveniently located right next to the all the benches. So anything in your car is just a few steps away. After picking a bench to set up at, you walk into the registration/pro shop area and sign in. The entry fee is a little high but that's because they let you bring your own paint at Fox, which is awesome. You can save yourself a ton of cash by doing that, which means you can play more often. After checking in, if you've never been there before, you watch their safety video, which was entertainingly done by Rob "Tyger" Rubin. Unlike most videos, which are boring and by the book, he added some humor and common sense to it and actually made it enjoyable to watch. People just waiting in line were watching it instead of being bored.

The fill station area for your air is pretty decent. They have each area labeled accordingly to the pressure of HPA that you would use. They offer 4500 psi fills but they were having equipment issues and at most, were giving 3500 psi, which isn't bad at all. I understand stuff breaks down or malfunctions, so I didn't knock'em for it.

The practice range was a tad small. It made you feel a bit cramped in there but the shooting area itself was fine. Offered a decent selection of ranges to shoot at. The only gripe that I had was that only 1 of 2 of the chronos were working and it was because of low batteries. They really should have checked those before the day began so they wouldn't be bothered with it during the day or inconvenience the players.

The fields themselves are a pretty good selection. Up front, next to the entrance, they have medium sized woods fields. They were pretty fun, having nice brush to hide behind, a trench or two, in addition to barricades. Since it was a low lying area, the front fields were a bit muddy. So depending on the weather in the past week, it could be like that quite often.

On the opposite side of the parking lot across from the registration area are X-ball fields. They must have had a tournament going on that day because there were a lot of players on there and a ton of paint was flying.

Directly behind the registration area was some speedball fields. I didn't get to play on them but they looked interesting.

The back fields have a few fields but we only got to try 2 of them. One of them was a village, which has grass and buildings. Due to its small size, though, people tend to just camp and spray and pray until people get taken out. You don't usually see people touching a tower and taking out people inside it (field rule).

They must have gotten some bad weather shortly before we arrived because there was some damage throughout the park, the water level was high in the Fox River, and low areas were quite muddy. Despite the conditions, the fields were well taken care of.

The staff was really nice and helpful, which can make or break a field. From people in the pro-shop, to the refs, to the service people. The rental equipment seemed ok, just from observation. We brought our own stuff. All rentals are Automags with drop forwards, which is a nice change from the typical 98 Customs. You can either bring your own paint or buy a variety of field paint, which ranges from Draxxus to white box and in different amounts. Even the paint they sell is reasonably priced for field paint. Food selection is pretty typical: hot dogs, chips, water, pop, etc. Another plus is that they allow grenades there, too.

Overall, I was pretty happy with play there. You can have a full day of fun, if you bring your own equipment and paint, for $40 or less. The facilities and staff were really good. The park itself is a tad on the small side and so are the fields and selection, but they make up for it with diversity. I'd recommend people try it out.

Re: Fox Paintball

If there's one thing that you should know about this field is that the refs are great and the customer service of this place is excellent!

Notes:
-The field is hidden, so depending on which side you're coming from you'll see a "Fox Paintball" sign on the right exactly after the tracks. From the other side you just gotta look for a dirt road right before you hit the tracks.

-For you TomTomers and GPS users, this place isn't listed on those. So you can use it to get to the address but it'll lead you to some cornfield. There IS a road there that goes to the woods, but believe me.... that's not it lol. So I advise you to call for directions once you get to the field with your GPS.

-Generally the field is EXTREMELY muddy too! (I <3 mud) Even on a dry day you'll get a boot stuck in the mud. So bring a full change of clothes for the car. (for those who usually don't)

-Bring bug spray, depending on the day, there's a creek that runs through the field that is stagnant, so mosquitoes tend to get the best of you some days. (And they're not the little brown ones either! They're the zebra stripped ones that are known to carry West Nile and leave gigantic, stinging welts)

-Paint isn't expensive at the park, but make use of the BYOP rule before you go. I don't believe there's a "Dick's Sporting Goods" or anything like that around the town, so buy before you leave if you're used to stopping somewhere.

-Open Wed. and Fri. during the summer (9am-4pm). But if there isn't a total of 10 ppl there by noon they close the park for the day. So call ahead of time and make sure ppl are stopping by (like me and my friends, just ask about "The Lost Boys"). Otherwise the staff is pretty cool, they're not gonna make you pay $30 for 3 hours of play, so sometimes until noon hits you'll play for free if it's just you and a couple buddies. (and yes, that means free air/co2!! Woot!!)

-Rentals: They offer the automags along with A5s! With either HPA (for and additional price I think) or Co2 tanks. And one of the staff members is an A5 enthusiast. He told me about this place! (His name is Rocco//Tim, he goes by both.)

Other than that, have fun! This place is great and way cheaper compared to CPX and such.

PM me if any of you guys are thinking about going one day. I'll see if I'm free and maybe we'll all take a little drive!

I'm currently feeling out the tri-state area (within a reasonable distance) for fields because I haven't gone to many. When I do head back out to Fox, I'll drop a line!

Oh, you're definitely right about the mud. 2nd game of the day, I almost went up to my knee in mudd. Thank god inertia kept my body going forward instead of downward. LOL
