| For those not familiar with Blast Camp, its located about 40 min, SE of Chicago in the North-Eastern section of Indiana. It's an abandoned military base with barracks, mess hall, radar station, tons of trenches, wooden pillboxes, and plenty of vegetation to get lost in. There isn't much parking for the place. Only on either side of the entrance for about 150-200 ft. Beyond that, you would have to park on sides of the main road. The staging area isn't very large either. Maybe a dozen or so benches but located underneath trees, which offers some much needed shade on those hot days. Unlike some benches you find, these weren't falling apart or sagging, where you felt like they were gonna give if you even shifted your weight. There was also only 1 toliet, which bathroom breaks during lunch meant getting in a line. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. All the way from registration to the refs on the field. Can't say I had or even heard of a bad experience with them during the event. The paint was RPS Premium for the event but they seemed like bad paint. They had bad seams and a few dimples on them and the fill was white. The good thing is that they didn't swell as the hot, humid day went on. It had rained the night before and it was close to 90 degrees with mostly sunny skies out and the paint held up just fine. Normally the paint went for $90 for a case but for this event was only $60, which is pretty respectable. The fill station was pretty quick and easy too. They offered both 4500 and 3000 psi fills in addition to CO2. Maps were posted of the event of where targets were, list of objectives, and landmarks. If you were a newcomer to the field, it can be pretty easy to get lost, though. I would highly recommend printing off a copy of one before the game and bring it with you. The field is pretty large and can be pretty easy to get lost in. I didn't start figuring it out until I had gone over the entire field about an hour before the game stopped. There were about 100 people that showed up for the event with a few people coming and going. Teams were divided into Blue and Red with 3 captains each. Points were awarded for killing captains, completing objectives, and knocking out tanks. There may have been more ways but that's all I could remember. The field is where this place really stands out. I can't stress how awesome and diverse this place really is. You can play some CQB in the barracks, be a sniper in the bush, engage in some squad action near the pillboxes, etc. Even if you gain control of an area, reinsertions are about every 10-15 min. So you'll never get bored with this place because there's always somebody to shoot at. They have a 4 wheel drive vehicle with a dual A5 turret on top that acts as their tank. I couldn't tell if there were more than one though. Those things can lay down some serious paint. After the game, they were giving away shirts, hats, masks, etc. They also had a 10 gun giveaway, which I won an ION. Other guns were X7's and Dangerous Power G3's that I recall. It was my first scenario event that I went to, but definitely one to remember. I will definitely be heading back the next time they host an event and I would highly recommend it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Re: Balls to the Walls: Operation Inferno Great Review! I'm sorry I couldn't make it out to join ya seeing as we live so close to each other. But, I'm glad someone from the forum had a good time there. I hear they run that place ever weekend so we should head up there on weekend with as many people as we can gather up and just let no holds be barred! haha. Congrats on the ION, You pretty much got your money's worth out of the day then, seeing as you won a marker! Must have a golden horseshoe implanted in your rear. Keep in touch we'll get together soon. Possibly this weekend if you're free seeing as we always play in Mokena where I was telling you. Take Care! |
