Field Maintenance:

I have played there many times and the fields are always in great condition. For this event they were perfect providing a very interesting geography to battle in. It was also organized to provide equal play for both the sides and we even switched midway to keep everything fair making you reverse your thinking about what you were going to do. I give this a 10 because it really was perfect and even if I were in charge I wouldn't change anything.

Customer Service:

They had simply the best customer service that I have ever seen. When an entire pallet of paint was found to be broken they took back boxes from everyone they had sold them to and gave them unbroken ones. I manager of the whole field even stopped to help me at one point. The refs were the best anyone could ask for. There must have been close to a 3:1 ref to player ratio. They were also very active running around even through the thick of it. I must have been chronoed 10 times during the day. They also weren't afraid to dish out the punishments or help with problems. I give this a 10 as anyone who was there would.

Rental Equipment:

I don't rent so I don't know, sorry.

Paint/Air:

This was the game’s biggest downfall. The paint they had was very poor quality. You would be very hard pressed to find non-dimpled paint. The rain and humid air didn't help the paint any either. The air was also a disappointment, as I could only fill my air tank to 3900 of its 4500 capacity (still plenty though). I give this a 7 because these aspects weren't the best although it being their 1st scenario I don't hold it against them.

Value:

The value of this game was decent. It basically cost me $75 for entry, air, and a box of their crappy paint which lasted me the day. This really isn't that bad considering the costs of some other fields I've been to that charge $75 for a case of the same paint. They also where throwing free things at a few points during the event. I got a ton of stuff but didn't have anything it went with so all I ended up keeping was a hat and head band. There were also prizes awarded at the end that if you won would easily cover the coast of the event. I give it a 9 here because it was good but still could have used a bit of improvement.

Bad Notes:

There were a few things that really weren't very nice during the game. One was when the field owner went on the field using a nice paint of a different color than everyone else’s creating panic among the refs of a cheater and annoyance among the players. Another was the paint, it really was bad. A third for me was the weather, I know this was entirely out of control but it really dimmed the event a bit. During the final battle the Americans, when attacking, had no ref by the entry point and no time to get everyone there. All of a sudden we here a whistle and have no clue what’s going on.

Improvements:

1. Have different levels of paint to choose from not just low grade.
2. Get the air fills up to 4500.
3. Get more space to go to when its raining.
4. Leave the snack bar open all day and better snacks.
5. Beer.
6. Better Coordination.
7. Don't let ANYONE use ANY paint besides what they said we could use.
8. Have someone by the air to help people wearing vests.
9. Keep the Raiders reffing, they’re the best.
10. Have more people and teams?

Overall this game was amazing and I will definitely be going to their next scenario. So I give it a 9 as it was a very good scenario but could use some improvement.

Questions and comments appreciated.

I'd just like to comment on some points made by the original poster.

I like your list. I hope you don't mind if I comment using your list. It'll give the readers an added perspective.

1. That would be nice. That said, the paint they had was actually fine. Before the rain started, everyone i talked to remarked that paint was shooting well. With rain and humidity, it deteriorated quite a bit, but that's expected. Anything that expands due to humidity while sitting will become dimpled. There was nothing theycould havedone to prevent the effects of the eather.
2. I managed to get my bottled filled to just under 4000. Could be better. They'll need to set up more stations if more people show up next time.
3. a canopy for rainyweather would be nice, but i only know one field that offers that (and it's limited).
4. yep.
5. definately not.
6. i found this game to be well coordinted. the refs actually knew scenario rules. there was one little slip up at the end, but it was no big deal.
7. yep. it was the field owner and his crew who were brought in to help the red side. it was well-intentioned and they realized their mistake a bit late on that one, but apoligized to everyone.
8. nah, that's a player responsibility.
9. yep, yep.
10. once word spreads of how good this game was, there should be more players next time. theyjust have to make sure that they keep a cap to keep the field from being overcrowded and have the logistics to deal with more players.

my overall impression:
paint shot funny after lunch, but that couldn't be helped due to weather. this field normally has good paint on hand.
very nice field layout and varied terrain.
very good game rules and format.
excllent reffing.
high level of sportsmanship.
game was kept on schedule.
great price structure.
an overall excellent experience and value.

Re: E-jam 1st Scenario: Revolutionary War

Personally, I loved this game, even in the rain. That being said, there were a 2 points I didn't like;
First and foremost was the owner and his speedball kids coming on the field with rental markers and cheap paint. I understand the need for the Red side to have been reinforced, however considering the number of times we were told to report anyone using non-field paint, and that those hits would not count, this created a problem. I had not met the owner before, and when a teammate and I were hit with pink paint, we reported it to a ref, and asked for a ruling. The owner then came up the hill yelling "A hit is a hit, it doesn't matter what color it is!" We tried to be polite in explaining our problem, though the owner just seemed to get hotter about the issue and stated "Well, I am the owner". The ref told us to walk to the tape line, sit for a few and come back in. We took the out, and that was it, but my teammate and I were dissapointed to say the least. We did the right thing, and ended up sitting out anyway.
Chronographing was also a problem for me. I was chronoed on the way in with my E-grip marker, but when it began to rain, I got my RT instead. Both times I had to hunt down someone with a chrono, and then hope they had zip ties to prove I had checked my speed. E-jam doesn't seem to have a permanent and effective chrono station, but instead has an improptu station with a trash bin and a picnic table, and even that poor setup wasn't used this day. If I had wanted to ignore the chrono, I am pretty sure I could have done so. I believe an improvement must be made in this area for this field in general.
Otherwise, fun was had by all, and I will surely return for future games with my team, and to support the Raiders and the other ERSA teams.

Re: E-jam 1st Scenario: Revolutionary War

That was disapointing that they did that using paint they had restricted. Although I found most of the refs had chronos and there were three refs with chronos that were on the speedball field for most of the morning. Trust me you would have been chronoed a some point during the day.

Re: E-jam 1st Scenario: Revolutionary War

Okay. I am glad you saw them, that makes me feel a little bit better. I think a chrono station just inside the net, or on the xball field, that you had to hit on the way into the game, after lunch, and before the "final battle" would have been a better way to do it all though. I only suggest this because my biggest complaint about Ejam3 as a whole is that I think their chrono setup is poor. Overall I thought the Raiders did an excellent job planning and executing the game that day, but if I have one complaint, that is it.

Re: E-jam 1st Scenario: Revolutionary War

Yes, we are. E-Jam Outdoor, in West Milford. Unless it closed in the last week and a half, it's still there.

Are you thinking of the ABC Store?

Re: E-jam 1st Scenario: Revolutionary War

ohh sry. maybe I am thinking about some other paintball feild. Anyway, you said west milford, thats near the paintball depot fields right? If so, I could probably go to those fields cause I live about 30-45 min. away from there. Is there another Revolutionary game there in 08?09?

Re: E-jam 1st Scenario: Revolutionary War

To the best of my knowledge, there are three fields in West Milford: ABC; E-Jam; and Paintball Depot. ABC and E-Jam are both BYOP, PD is not. ABC is something of a hole, but a bit cheaper than E-Jam.

I'd personally prefer E-Jam.

I believe the Raiders are planning another event for this summer, but I am unclear on the details.
