Flatline plus spring kit

I have noticed a slight drop in velocity since finally getting my flatline honed in. I've been told (and yes read many a post) that the Trinity and Madman spring kits can help. But there seems to be some hesitation with a flatline is involved.

What's the deal? Is it a bad idea to pair an aftermarket spring with a flatline barrel? By the way I'm running CO2 with an R/T.

Re: Flatline plus spring kit

The thing is the spring kits increase your velocity.. even with the softest spring. Your flatline needs to be at a lower lvelocity then regural barrels. (I believe 240-260 fps.. correct me if I am wrong) A regualr barrel should be at about 280 fps. The increase in velocity could cause turbulances on the ball and make it inaccurate again.. If you got it dialed in.. leave it alone. imho

Re: Flatline plus spring kit

Dialed in as far as accuracy. . .but I am just slightly pained by the dip in velocity.

Has anyone added a spring kit with a flatline and had success?

Re: Flatline plus spring kit

Yes, I have. But i had to go with a lighter spring as i was having trouble getting my velocity down to around 270 fps( were a flatline works best).I also have polished internals, a palmers stab and im running hpa so that may factor in .

Re: Flatline plus spring kit

flate lines run the bets between 260-280 thhat extream low and extream high. around 270 is the best for me. only get a spring kit if you velocity is like a constant 200-210 or lower the r/t does not afecct velocity much. but co2 does seem to work better with the r/t.

Re: Flatline plus spring kit

Are you using the standard A5 flatline? I think when I did mine I had it honed around 265-270 fps. I had a red spring in it as well from madmann or something.. It might help you in response time, it might not, and if it does it will be minute.. If its already honed, I wouldn't change it =P its hard to get those suckers right.

Re: Flatline plus spring kit

When I installed my Flatline I could not get it over 220 fps so I had to get a Maddmann kit. I went with the stiffest spring and I couldnt get it over 290 if I tried. I always liked to run my flatty around 265-270 for best accuracy.
