| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead You are right, they are completely different, and as such have different characteristics. Personally, i'd go with the Hammerhead if I had to choose between the two. But for the same price (or less if you shop around) you could get a J&J Edge Elite barrel kit which comes with 5 backs and 3 fronts (your choice of length). This is what I run with, and it's the best value for money barrel kit on offer IMHO.

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead That's generally it. If you want accuracy, go with the HH. If you want range, go with the FL. Now, there are ways to get some pretty good accuracy out of the FL, as long as you can feed it good paint, know how to clean and adjust it, and have a backup barrel when the wind kicks up.

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead go with the Hammerhead Bangstikx barrel, I have the Recon as well as one of my teammates and they do us good, and honestly the flatline is only good for a small amount more range from what I got out of it and accuracy is nil in comparison. The Sharktooth I have only managed to test a little bit, but its pretty dang good on the accurate side, and anyone getting shot by you with it will know for sure its you! that little sucker is loud! |

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead Your facts are true. Some will argue the HH is not worth the money. They have not owned one or seen it in action. I have. Its amazing. The flatline is very cool also. You do get greater range, and the flat trajectory. Accuracy at the ranges the HH works within, the HH is more accurate. If you want decent accuracy and longer useful range, get the APEX and a great barrel, like the Palmers Brass. Some like the Lapco or the J&J. For all that, look here.

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead very true on the palmers brass, I have thought about it, one of my guys uses a Palmers Brass, I think its around 14" and it does shoot like a dream at times, depending on paint, and the range is great as well, however he has used an apex and in his opinion (Not mine) it does little to nothing for him, of course I have been curious to actually try it for myself |

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead The Flatline is a love or hate barrel. My father uses one and he loves the flatter shooting that it offers. I feel that the Apex is better for your money over a Flatline for these reasons; cheaper, adjustable backspin, ability to be turned off, can be put on a different barrel for better accuracy, & has longer range.

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead I shoot the HH 12" Recon Battlestik barrel. Great dependability, easy maintenance, and it can do some real damage if you need to do accurate shots. If HH is going to a game, they usually take a few demo barrels with them. Just find them, and give them your Driver Liscence as collateral. You get it back at the end of the event when you return the barrel. Just get on their website and/or cantact them (Hammerhead Paintball Barrels and Accessories. Rifled Paintball Barrels) . It's pretty cool that they do this for people, so why not try one in game conditions and see what it does for you? That being said, a few pieces of advice - this debate about barrels will never stop as long as there is paintball, so pick the barrel that does what YOU want/need for your game. Don't let anybody pressure you into a choice that's not 100% what you want for how you play. My HH works FOR ME. The Palmers Brass work FOR HIM. Flattys work FOR THEM. SHoot the barrel that works FOR YOU. --TAG-- |

| Re: Flatline versus Hammerhead Alright, take this with a grain of salt.. Ill try to tell ya the best i can but man am I ever hungover this morning. I have tried hammerheads, and flatlines. Hammerheads are far more reliable just because its simpler, they are DEADLY accurate. Flatlines do GREAT when you have it dialed in right. But thats just it, its kind of a ***** to dial in. But again, done right its got RETARDED distance shot capability. Also, temperature HUGELY effects the flatline, rate of fire and velocity are also a huge factor in a flatlines performance. Hammerheads are great, but again its got the accuracy more than it does the distance. So heres the best of both worlds: Palmers brass. Palmers brass barrels are probably the hottest **** since... Fire really. Also you can get them to make an APEX ready tip for it. I custom ordered a new barrel for my Delta Elite and i just slapped my APEX tip right on it. Ive tried hammerheads, flattys, palmers, and apex's. for performance and reliablility, a palmers brass barrel is the way to go. If you dont like palmers, go with hammerhead. Its a little more expensive but worth it. I think anyone on these forums will back me up when i say palmers is the best though. Or if you really want both capabilities... Just roll a palmers brass with the apex ready tip (Yes, palmers does that) Again, your call. But thats just my educated opinion.
