I only have one question . . .

Why?

But honestly, no I don't think it'd work.

Re: What happens if you mount a flatline barrel to a straight barrel?

I am not sure what this will do, probably a little bit like the flatline itself.
Or like Eric Engler said, it will become an apex.
But it would be a challenge to put a flatline onto a normal barrel. It would be something

Re: What happens if you mount a flatline barrel to a straight barrel?

What do you mean by "work"?

Will it provide backspin? Probably.
Will it break balls? Very likely.
Will it be accurate? I can't say I think it will.

Well, those three answers should be motivation enough. Try it out. Somehow.

Re: What happens if you mount a flatline barrel to a straight barrel?

It wouldn't work.

When you fire off a ball, it has reached maximum velocity by the time it has reached the last few inches of the barrel. When a ball is fired through the flatline (attached normally, not on the end of another barrel) the ball is accelerated through the flatline and is given backspin (magnus effect) which allows it to "float" further downfield. The ball rolls along the top of the curved barrel WHILE accelerating out the end of the barrel.

Trying to shoot with the setup as illustrated in the OP, would basically be firing a ball into a flatline, and the ball trying to bounce around inside the curved flatline pipe. I think it would be an exercise in futility, and a messy one at that.

But, I have been proven wrong many times in the past. Give it a go.

If you do try it, can you take video footage of the maiden voyage? I'd like to see that.

no offense, but it's a lot of waisted time.

BTW: the little quote under your name is like extending the page to the side...

Yeah, Duff Muffin has a point. And I'd have to agree with Hedshotz- it would probably turn the flatline to soup. But if it works, more power to you.

Re: What happens if you mount a flatline barrel to a straight barrel?

If your willing to try this and get some video of the maiden voyage, More power to ya!

An Apex would use the same principal, only it would have a lot nicer results.

Yes, it may work, but you're going to have to turn the operating pressure WAY up. I have no idea why you'd want to do this, but I do lots of things that people don't understand either.

Good luck.
