Slimmer Flatline shroud?

So I have just acquired a secondhand Flatline off a fellow player for about half the price of a brand new one. I've tested it yesterday and found that it was a very good barrel, seems to be fine with the field paint they sell, and the trajectory is incredible.

What puts me off it a little is the "Fat black tube" that is the standard shroud. It's bulky, somewhat unattractive, and on top of that it's shiny. Not really my thing, to be honest.

So I was wondering if there are any aftermarket shrouds which don't look quite as wide? As far as I can tell it doesn't need to be cylindrical to hide the curve of the Flatline, correct? Does anybody know of any "slimmer" shrouds available?

Also, if I can't get one, I can at least try and dull the finish a little. Will sandpaper work to get rid of the shine, or will it wreck the shroud? How fine of a sandpaper should I use?

Re: Slimmer Flatline shroud?

They are all big tubes. Some have rails, some have porting, but you're stuck with tubes. The actual barrel inside the shroud is just as thin from a top view as a standard barrel, it just curves up. Something like an enlongated rectangle would cover it up nicely. You could try PMing AirH0g. He seems to be decent at making kick ass custom pieces.

Re: Slimmer Flatline shroud?

The MP5 shroud has the hole in a different place than the flatline shroud does. I've seen custom Flatline shrouds made to look like an MP5SD, but they were not run in mass production. You might also try Underground Mod Shop.

Re: Slimmer Flatline shroud?

yeah any replacement shrouds I've seen for the flatline are rubes, but with a littl imagination you should be able to come up with something no doubt.

Re: Slimmer Flatline shroud?

yeah the project you seek may be a hacksaw and sandpaper instead of a bolt on. I would ask around there are many members here who can assist in custom mods of all sorts. If you can think it, It can be done here!

Two shrouds and like $60 later, I've gotten nowhere with that. It's possible, but you'd need to trim down the base ring of the flatline marker adapter and then figure out how to mount the barrel shroud pipe thing (rubber gaskets might work).

Re: Slimmer Flatline shroud?

I wonder why anyone hasn't mentioned the A5 Flatline Shroud by Metadyne.
Its definetly not a cylinder, it's slim, and has a unique profile.

Oh, I like to do things on the cheap and ideally fabricate my own parts. That's like a hundred bucks. No thanks.
