And that's why the author has an entire section titled: Velocity
In which he disscusses velocity springs. Anyway, someone has already pmed me a response 4 days ago answering all my questions. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Re: A Full Guide to the Flatline Barrel

Quick question. I played with the flatline for the first time this past Sunday. My results were ok due to a velocity problem. I've heard others mentioning boiling the barrel after breaks. Should I remove anything from the barrel? Will loosening the hex screws on it take the shroud off? Should I throw the whole thing in or just the core?

Re: A Full Guide to the Flatline Barrel

Just take the shroud off. You can leave the barrel-adapter on.

You can boil the shroud too if there's stuborn-paint that won't come off.

The only reason for taking the shroud off is to make it easier to dry, so you don't leave any water inside.

Plus, you probably won't need as much water.

Re: A Full Guide to the Flatline Barrel

Thanks for the quick reply. What screws need to be taken off to get the shroud off? Just the small hex screws?

Re: A Full Guide to the Flatline Barrel

yes, only the two small screw.

another reason for taking the shroud off is its not water tight. water will get inside the shroud and will rust the metal and screws. plus, it would take forever to get all the water out of the shroud.

just take it off

Yeah, I should have clarified what I meant about trying to dry it if you'd left the shroud on.

Re: A Full Guide to the Flatline Barrel

I have a question concerning my flatline barrel... I'm really new to paintball, and new to the forum (you guys seem really nice so I decided to join the crew) and basically my flatine system is really really hard to install. I loosened the three designated screws on my marker to the point that they came out, and I still had to puch really really hard (almost all my strength) to get the flatline in, and then twising it I saw the flatline being torqued a bit. I think I may have done it worng, but I did it three times exactly how the directions say and it wasn't easy once. If I could field strip that then I deserve a medal... am I doing something wrong?

sometimes you have to take the bolts out all the way take a little sand paper and GENTLY LIGHTLY ETC remove some of the paint around the end of the flatline adapter that goes into the body
