I though I would go ahead and post this “how to” on here. I should hope everyone already knows what a carabiner is? It’s those little accessory clips that you put’s or your car keys and other stuff to hang on. They also have the big ones that are used for climbing and repelling. I use the small ones for everything to hang off my vest. I had this problem when I was in the Army with keeping my carabiners camouflaged and weather proof. Some commercial carabiners that you get from the out door stores and surplus stores come in bright powder coated colors that aren’t very tactical in my opinion. A bright shiny pink or blue carabiner does not blend in with rest of my camouflage that I have spent a lot of time and money to conceal myself with. (Not totally true, went in to a surplus store last week and they had camouflaged powder coated ones, dam! Messed my How to thread up!) lol! Anyway, I’m going to continue with this how to thread any way.

This does not do me any good on field when you can see it reflecting a mile away. There was two things I did in on active duty to eliminate this. One was to spray paint them with a prime coat, then spray them with a black or OD green color. The other was to simply wrap it with electric tape to cover up the shine.
Well the big problem I found with going out in the field a few times is when you use the carabineers with your equipment they rub up against everything and paint chips off. The problem with the electric tape, in the heat the tape gets goopy and starts to come off as well.
I found this product in the auto motive section of a big chain store. It’s called Liquid Tape. It’s used to weatherproof electric wiring and stuff. I know it’s been brought up in other threads. Some one talked about using it to silence there hopper with it. I applied it to 3 of my carabiners to test it. If you’re going to use this stuff, please use in a well ventilated room, because it has some pretty nasty fumes that come out of the can. I know there are similar products that come in a spray form and dip form. I went with the can that comes with a brush inside of it.
I applied about 3 coats to the carabiners to even out the application, because the stuff dries pretty quick and goopy when it dries. Over all, not to bad a product. My biggest complaint is when it dries and doesn’t dry smooth, it dries with a rough finish. Though I would share with everyone.

edit: When your carabiner dries, cut around the area of the clip that is going to open with a knife or box cutter.

Oh, that's not a remote cover, I made that, specifically for my camel-back drinking tube. I have a remote cover as well, that my wife made for me.

You may want to update your instructions with how you prevented the moving part from sticking to the rest. Good idea, I should probably do something like this to mine.

But after the paint starts to fly, it doesn't matter what color your carabiner is anyways
