| HOW TO: Single point sling I thought I'd try making a single point sling to see how I like it on my B-5 when compared to the 3-point sling I also have. I've been finding that the 3-point gets in the way a bit, so I was after something simpler. The stuff to make this cost me a grand total of $2.90 from DIY Tactical. I bought "foliage green" to match my ACUs, but the parts are available in several different colours. The sling is in two different parts... the base stays on your marker, and the sling stays on you. The two parts are attached together with a buckle. ![]() First step, cut a section of webbing about a foot long and slide one of your slides onto it. Make sure you melt the ends of the webbing so they don't fray: ![]() Turn the whole strap upside down and thread the right end through your sling swivel: ![]() Take the male half of your buckle and put it on the left end of the webbing (as shown): ![]() Loop the left end of the webbing through the other hole in the buckle: ![]() Take the right end of the webbing and thread it through the same hole in the buckle (but from the right side): ![]() Now thread the right end of the webbing through the last hole in the buckle: ![]() Tidy it all up by threading the loose end of the webbing through the slide. You are now done with the base: ![]() Take the remaining length of webbing and thread the female part of the buckle and another of the slides onto it (as shown): ![]() Using either a needle and thread or a sewing machine, sew a loop at the end of the webbing (as shown). You will need to make sure the stitching is sturdy, so go over it several times just to be certain: ![]() Slide the remaining two slides onto the webbing (as shown). Mine are pushed way up towards the buckle just so I could fit them in the photo. You'll want yours nearer the free end of the webbing: ![]() Thread the free end of the webbing through the slide that is sewn next to the buckle: ![]() Thread the free end of the webbing through both slides: ![]() You're done! You can adjust the size of the loop using the two slides. ![]() As you can see, this project was a great favourite with my cat, Astrophe, who "helped" (err, hindered) ![]()

| Re: HOW TO: Single point sling If anyone tries this, please let me know if the explanations and the pictures actually describe the process accurately. I based this on another how-to thread I found online a while back and printed out, but it took me such a long time to figure out all the nuances from the pictures and descriptions that I decided to make my own in the hope that it would be much clearer. If I need to add or change anything, just let me know and I will ![]()

| Re: HOW TO: Single point sling Quote:
Having the buckle also lets the marker be attached to other slings very quickly, say if a friend wants to borrow it or you want to saw permanent sling attachments to a vest. One thing about one-point slings is the extra freedom. The lack of a forward sling point gives you extra muzzle freedom with no strap to get in the way, but when hanging free the marker swings completely free rather than staying fairly close to you body. Some people like this, some don't. However, since you only have a single point, the sling itself can be very snug to your body and the attachment section can be rather short. I usually figure-8 the straps around my shoulders to keep the attachment point from moving away from my shoulder crease.
