How does multicam do in dense woodland? We have recently contemplated adopting it as my team's uniform but we play in the forests of virgina so I voted no (we have 3 directors so my vote would sway the decision.) I'm curious to see your response mate.

Re: What Camo do you wear?

Woodland Air Force BDUs. I have a green WWII trench coat I used to wear, and probably will again in the winter.

Certainly, Mav. I'll try to be brief but informative, at the risk of highjacking this thread. The type of camo you choose should definitely match the woods you play in, and not all woods are the same.

At Paintball Jungle in Northern California, where I play, the woods have a more grayish-brown bark and duller leaves like so. (The link is just to show the woods, the people in it are not me nor my team.) During our last game, when I had my full Multicam TRUs, my friends said they could hardly see me at 20 yards until I moved.

Other woods are lusher, therefore greener. Other woods are drier, therefore more tan in appearance. I'm not privy to the forests of Virginia, so other first hand experience might be needed on your side. My opinion: buy a shirt and pants but make sure you can return it with a receipt. Hang it on a tree in that forest and walk 20 yards away. If it's hard for you to see the outline, you're set. If you can make it out clearly, grab that receipt and return it and try another camo pattern.

There isn't one pattern that fits all. Good luck!

I wouldn't have thought that Multicam would work well in that environment. Looks too green in the pics I've seen. I'm currently using a pattern called Smokey Branch. It's not as cool as Multicam, but it works well in the woods of new england.

Here's a pic of me at a scenario game last year wearing it...

Sadly my hair doesn't blend nearly as well.

But it was way too humid that day to wear my hat, kept making my mask fog up.

I've been thinking about picking up some Multicam or Omnipat, but not sure how well it will work around here.

That (Smokey Branch) already looks really good against the tree trunks in the background. Low contrast, good tonal values. I wouldn't change them at all.

The reason I'm considering the change is that I'm going to be picking up a vest very soon to replace that harness I have on in that pic. I wanted it to all match, so I was considering multicam or omnipat. I could keep the pattern I'm wearing and go with a OD or brown vest, but then I'll lose the effectiveness of the camo pattern on my upper body.

I've been very happy with the smokey branch pattern, but I just can't find a vest in it.

Re: What Camo do you wear?

Currently have Woodland and Tri-Color Desert, but will be ordering MARPAT in the next week or so...so I voted MARPAT.

Re: What Camo do you wear?

I didn't know we could post pictures, so here's my outfit. I got a full airforce woodland BDU set, AF issued camelback, military issue woodland knee and elbow pads, 4 pod harness and remote with suspension, tactical helmet, and JT Spectra OD thermal mask. What do you think??
