Exclamation Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

I was tempted to put this in the A5 modification forum, but i'm not really modifying anything on the A5.

Anyway, behold the most ambitious project in history. I got the idea from Funky Diver in the UK, but i've also seen something like this in development in the US. A few things to note:

- The final length of the feed hose will be much much shorter. I've just not gotten round to that bit yet.
- The feed hose + remote will be covered with marpat.
- Obviously the gizmotron will go inside the rucksack. But i've not yet figured out how to store it securely in there.
- A hopper with "eyes" will be used instead.
- I will be extending the hopper somehow all the way to the top of the rucksack. Hopefully final capacity should be around 1k paintballs. I'll probably do this with tubing or some kind of bottle.
- The only fitting that I haven't figured out how to secure yet, is how the hose connects to the A5.
- I've not yet figured out how to make some kind of quick-disconnect feature for the hose so I can detach it easily.

Re: Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

Looks intriguing so far.

Does the rucksack have some kind of internal framing? You could make a plate that would bolt onto the framing to hold the warpfeed system in place.

Sweet piece of work Derf!!!

My bro's been looking into doing the same sort of thing but we didn't think it would work lol (well for it to feed fast enough anyways)

Perhaps you could do up your own molle pack to attach it inside your Rucksack. It would still be secure and then just run a separate remote switch from that to the outside of your Rucksack or to your belt. Just an other idea though

Let us know how it all works in the field will ya!!

Re: Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

@ guseppe - Unfortunately, there's no frame system inside the rucksack.

@ dragon - Yeah, using MOLLE has come to mind a time or two, but I can't figure out how to attach the cordura.

@ sights - seen that before but his is very basic.

Re: Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

My only thought is to make a basic internal frame that would hold the warpfeed system at the base and then a large hopper container would bolt in place above it. The frame would fill most of the interior space of the rucksack so the whole setup would not move around too much.

One thing on the larger hopper: if the capacity gets too large, the balls at the bottom will tend to get deformed from the weight. Not sure how to get around that.

Re: Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

The only problem I didnt Like about warping my a5 was that the tube would retain balls that would not load when your hopper is empty. That also looks like a good 30-40 rounds that would empty your hopper when you begin. But very clever.

Re: Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

@ guardian - nope.

@ guseppe - there is a thing out there called an "Alice" pack frame or something. I think it's a US military standard frame system. I saw it, but avoided it because it seemed a bit too large and generally OTT. How do you propose fixing anything to the frame? That's a good point you raise about the ball squashing. Have you seen this first hand, or is it something you suspect would happen?

@ silent - the excess balls don't cause any physical problems do they?

Re: Behold! In Progress Rucksack Feed System

Sweet man! Happy I could help. The alice pack is okay but they are quite heavy for there size. You could ghetto make a frame by putting a box/container in the backpack. Coming along really well so far, keep up the good work!
