Re: New to paintball. Please give your advise.

FishSticks,

Thanks for the info on the clicky pen. I intend to try it and like the idea of a springs constant pressure over the magnet mod. I will most likely do the capri straw mod as well and if I feel the need to the machine screw mod. Its funny. I already have a list of things to change and I haven't even received the A5. I wont be doing them all at once as I would like to see the changes each will make but I'm glad I purchased an A5 over an X7.

Re: New to paintball. Please give your advise.

Did you buy the marker from e-tippmann on ebay? I have been thinking about getting another factory new a-5 and their prices seem the best considering they swap out the a-5 cyclone for an x-7 one and x-7 hopper. Also I would leave the cyclone alone unless you get e-grip. Get a parts kit with a replacement ratchet just incase, or get a vortex or the cheaper jcs jet-click wich I have and like as much as the vortex I have. Not for the rof, but for the durability. The only way I have broke a ratchet was the stock one with e-grip. Never seen one break from anything else personally. I prefer the steel 3000 to the carbon myself. They cost less and hydro longer. I wear mine on my back with remote with palmers reg on my remote. Personally the tank gets in the way on the gun when playing woodsball. Shoot what you got till you want or need something new for it. Want is usually the clear winner when modding tippmanns though.

106.90 - best i found was 5 bucks cheaper

Pure Energy 72/3000
69.99 - good price

Empire E-Vent Thermal Digital Green
94.99 - good price, but i tend to think these are not worth the monies.

Total: 510.99

Next two purchases

Palmer Male Stabilizer
99.99 - Check out hotshotpaintball.com for a kit with all the necessary parts.

and if it turns out the EP upgrade isn't enough, time will tell

TechT Package 4n1 upgrades
109.00 - unless you have R/T or Egrip this is a waste.

Total: 208.99

I think this pretty much covers it.

I believe I made the best decision financially, reliability and functionality wise. I'll be upset if I find out there are cheaper prices out there I didn't find but you cant win them all. I was prepared to spend $500.00 and I went over by 10.99. Comments? Questions?

Seems like you are certainly off to a great start. Since you're going HPA you won't see a big difference with the stab, but it does help. prices are pretty much inline with what i found, so you certainly didn't get ripped off. Enjoy your new toys!
