Clippard MEV troubles

Hello all...

I spent an hour last night trying to install the Clippard MEV.

Problem was that I couldn't get it to sit right. I used flat O-Rings, round O-Rings, teflon tape, nothing...shoot I'd be willing to bet the kitchen sink would've worked better...

Anyhow...Is there something I can do with this thing or should I just get the Palmer's QEV?

I know...the Plamer's should've been the first choice...but I got the Clippard MEV locally for $5.25. Quite the bargin I thought...

Anyway...first post here...really glad I found this forum...not a big fan of the Tippmann forums.

Thanks for any help.

JB

Re: Clippard MEV troubles

I got it going. I had to use copius amounts of teflon tape and one single round O-Ring. The Flat ones that come with the Clippard Barbs suck pretty bad. They aren't tight enough to hug the fitting and sqeeze out above the threading and don't make a good seal.

Right now it seems to work really well. I also upgraded to the 1/8 tubing and the Response Trigger is much easier to catch the "Sweet" spot.

I was having problems with the RT. It was NOT shooting bursts of any kind. Maybe 3 round bursts but only occasionally. After I called Tippmann...they sent me a new RT fitting and an O-Ring for the connection in the handle. But still...I only seen 5 round bursts and they were NOT consistant.

So...I upgraded to the larger hoses and the Clippard QEV. Finally...now I can hold the RT "Sweet" spot and get a constent burst of about 10-15 rounds or so. Its still not as nice as all my other friends who have the 98 Custom Pro w/ the RT.

I guess its a work in progress right now. I'm just glad its working finally. Its definately an upgrade I would suggest. I am not sure if the Plamers would work better but...after using their Inline Stabilizer...I would have to say that its PROBABLY a nicer piece because of the quality that Palmers is known for.

Re: Clippard MEV troubles

Have you tried to adjust the R/T or the qev. I have heard that they are adjusted differently if you use HPA or CO. You may just need some adjustment. Have you heard of the clickpen spring mod. Search the forums and you will see it. I think mistermister has the link in his sig. That helped my R/T find sweet spot better. Makes the trigger little lighter. It is a cheap mod that makes a big difference. There is also one w/ a Q tip.
