Hello Again Everyone

Hi all, Psyopper here!

I dropped off the boards when the 2nd board failed due to technical difficulties and the A5OG was moved to PBNation (?). The interface was too clunky and I lost interest. Well, I decided to cruise on by today to see what was new and I found the good old board (or at least something that resembles it) instead!

Now all I have to do is re-earn my rep! Hopefully I have some of the old modification posts I had put up 2 years ago and get them back on here!

Re: Hello Again Everyone

There are all sorts of legal ramifications of making a marker quiter bu silencing the report. This is generally called a "silencer" and they are illegal in most countries.

Now I know what's you're thinking, it's a paintball gun, not a real gun! Wrong-o. I'm not going to go into the marker/gun debate here, though I'm surprised it hasn't come up elsewhere in this forum. I may even start a thread just to stir things up. Regardless, your marker is generally considered a gun and affixing a device to reduce noise is not legal.

That being said there was a highly regarded member of the old A5OG who now frequents a different forum supporting a major paintball retailerr/manufacturer that he works for. Anyway, said person did manage to "silence" his flatline by having a custom shroud made (based on the 98C Flatline) that extended the barrel about 3 inches inside the shroud. That three inches was significantly ported on all sides and his shroud was packed with insulation.

This was VERY effective in quieting the flatline. So much so that it sounded more like a closed-bolt marker than any other Tippmann and most Angels...

The problem with the setup is that it was a one-off, and apparently could not be duplicated because of alignment issues and manufacturing tolerances from Tippmann.
