Re: Action Cam on your A5

So I was reading up on your cam and I have a few questions.

it says its expandable up to 2gigs. does that mean it will not accept sd cards that have larger capacities?

how much footage will you get with 2gigs? will that capture an entire day of paintballing?

You already missed that answer.

Action Cam on your A5

As far as the "up to" question, it may go beyond 2 GB if the card can go beyond that. Sometimes they only list what a product can go up to because that's the largest card that they make at the time.

the atc3k i can only take the 2 gb card if you want a bigger card in a camera you have to get the atc5k which takes a 4gb sdhd!

That is partly true. The biggest contributor to this limitation is that the microcontroller (processor) in the camera writes its files on the SD Card using a FAT16 file system - FAT16 has a max limit of 2GB per volume - and the card acts as the volume - thus - even if you had a bigger card the microprocessor couldn't "see" any space > 2GB. With the newer camera'\s they've updated the firmware/processor to be able to address the bigger storage space (and perhaps are using FAt32 instead?). Therefore... a bigger card will likely not work with the ATC2K. You are however right, that at the time the camera was designed... it is unlikely that bigger cards were widely available.

Re: Action Cam on your A5

a bit ago there was borg-tech mentioned. he uses this here:
www.helmetcamera.com - Home
i haven't used it, and have no thoughts, but i thought i'd toss the idea out there.
i plan to get a gun/helmet cam at some point too.
