Re: Inferior materials?

Just bought my A-5, first ever...

Besides the time I had Co2 flowing through my velocity nut (and it magically fixed itself), I find it very durable. Some of the pieces now are plastic but its not that crap plastic, its the good solid stuff. At least it doesn't really scratch

Other then that, I'm not totally sure, like the screws and all. One thing I noticed is that sometimes the quick-strip pins or whaever aren't that easy to get out... The one on the trigger frame under the cycone, I have to use a hammer to get it in and out.

Stock barrel is still crap and loud as hell, although I've never used it I've seen them go and they aren't pretty. My $20 BT16 barrel seems to do the job.

I wish on the newer ones though that they would just include the X7 hopper with it. Save us money from buying it and save them money from making 2 different hoppers. Not a big deal but the X7 one is just nicer lol

My A5 is what 8, 9 months old? I used the stock ratchet for a good 6 months with the e-grip and had no problems. I didn't have problems until I started putting the TechT parts in it... They have new receivers now I certainly wouldn't call them inferior. Who can argue with them lowering the price? It's still a great product and I haven't heard any complaints other than aftermarket parts breaking. Of course there are the occasional powertube and ratchet breaks but a call to Tippmann and they will send you a brand new one... They sure as heck have awesome customer service!

Re: Inferior materials?

If I had the option, I think tippmann should go with a billet aluminum version. Make it lighter and the possibility of ano. I like my setups light though. Make both the cast and billet aluminum for user preference.

Re: Inferior materials?

Wouldn't that be mighty pricey to have a solid chunk of aluminum carved into an A5? I'm sure the idea has been tossed around, but it's much more cost effective to cast the halves than it is to carve from a block of billet aluminum. I don't even want to know what the price would be for consumers if they decided to go that route.

Re: Inferior materials?

I know it would be expensive for sure, atleast a bit more pricey than the cast versions. Would definitely help get tippmanns into the speedball scene a bit better.

Re: Inferior materials?

i think that tippmann is making certain things in cheaper plastic, to make the marker a bit cheaper too, cause when they first came out i paid well over 350 for mine, now you say there going brand new for 180? plus im sure tippmann knows that alot of people upgrade and milsim out the markers so y not pay for the base of the marker a bit cheaper? casue if it came with t-tech upgrades and and e-grip and all the other cool stuff that you can get it will cost you about 500 or more to buy so making the a-5 cheaper is giving you more money to spend on milsim or performance upgrades

Re: Inferior materials?

Good point patriot14t20. They have gotten way way cheaper, and I'm okay with having parts on it that I can easily upgrade to something better. Makes it feel more personal, like you don't have something kicked out of a cookie cutter. Your marker is your marker. End of story. I would, however, like to see a better quality grip. The plastic one works, but since there aren't really any aftermarket ones available, I'd like a metal grip frame. Everything else I've got on my A5 is metal, why not that???

Agreed. A nice metal trigger frame would enable you to remove/replace the grips with wood or whatever. Thank God for Airhogs' rubber grips.
