Inferior materials?

First off let me say watz up guys, I'm from the Special Ops forum, I'm know as WoodsSniper over there.

My question is, is Tippmann using inferior materials? People have told me this. I own two 98c and some other none tippmann markers and I have just ordered my a5 yesterday, and I was just wondering wether this is true.

Re: Inferior materials?

I've used my A-5 for 9 months. Materials seems to be solid. The only problem was cyclone ratchet which cracked and had to be replaced (Tech-T Vortex). As far as inferior materials the newer A-5 has plastic rear sight and yes it feels and looks inferior compared to my older version metal one. That's about it.

Re: Inferior materials?

My cousin bought a brad new A5 a couple of month ago and yes it seems not as a sturdy as mine for some reason, I have not read anything about this but it doesn't seem unprovable. Pretty much is literally a law of business you always look to make more money so in the efforts of rpoduct development and evolution I wouldn't be surprised if they realized many parts and components can be made of more cost effective materials without affecting real performance i.e. the new rear sight made out of plastic yeah I saw that, looks like a toy sight

Re: Inferior materials?

Unless the receivers are lighter, the only cheap part is the ratchet. I've gone thru 3, and now have the T-Tech Vortex. No more ratchet breaks. A plastic rear sight is no big deal, they don't break anyway. The price hasn't changed so maybe they have found a way to save money somehow.

Re: Inferior materials?

Inferior materials, I wouldn't say so. Inferior craftsmanship, I think they have room for improvement on.

When you sat inferior do you mean the sight only or the marker as a whole?

Re: Inferior materials?

i have played with my a-5 since the month they came out and until now i havent had anything break, until this year i have not needed to replace anything! and i play about 2-3 times a month! the only reason i am buying upgrades for my cyclone it to improve air consistency , as far as inferior materials i dont think so , the only thing that can be inferior is what upgrades up buy like milsim upgrades, which some companies do make crappy products! the a-5 is alot stronger and but put to together than the 98, the 98 is good but its like comparing a 72 vette against a 2008 zo6, its just the next best thing!

howdy, i hate to dispute you on the 98,but its as good as any blowback out there, granted, its a little tougher on the break down, the 98 s biggest set back at the time was upgradability, but as of late , upgrades are almost as plentiful as the a5, now back to the subject, times they are a changing, as we all know, the cost of everything has went up, included , but not limited to raw materials, i had an opportunity to handle a new a-5 a couple of weeks ago.
first thing i noticed was the packaging was a lot smaller, second thing the stock barrel had no porting, and last, but not least .the plastic rear site. now
the biggest differance was the price, i think john said he gave around $180.00.
now if those small details(who uses a stock barrel) help tippmann lower there price and still give me a solid product. i'm all for it...peace

Re: Inferior materials?

i have like a like 7+ yr old a5 and a 7 month old a5. The pins and screws in the older one are much more solid. As is the cyclone, its completely stock and shoots a rt at 15 bps with no problems. as for other things, i have not really noticed anything else
