I'm not sure how they would handle with a direct hit to the lens, though.

Durable as hell (thick lens, aluminimum shell, bright dot, etc) and has taken many direct hits. Plus it doesn't have the flip lids that can break with a direct hit. You can pick these up at various locations for $25-35.

All I've done is read reviews. I recently picked up the NCStar 45mmX1 (supersize Spec Ops Special). I like it so far.
